Educate Your Plate CIC has been awarded £19,980 from The National Lottery Community Fund to deliver a life-changing project right here in Widnes and Halton.
This two-year initiative will support up to 300 local women through free weekly sessions designed to improve health, wellbeing and longevity – not just for themselves, but for their families too.
Why this matters:
Women in Halton, and the surrounding areas, face high rates of obesity, preventable chronic conditions, menopause-related challenges, and poor overall wellbeing. By supporting women at this pivotal stage of life, we can create lasting, multi-generational change.
What’s included:
• Weekly support groups (term-time Wednesdays, 7–8.30pm): practical sessions, involving expert-led workshops on nutrition, CBT therapy, wellbeing tools, cooking demonstrations, and free healthy meals/snacks at every meet.
• Monthly group walks: open to all, encouraging sustainable movement habits.
• Free planners and tools: to help participants stay on track and celebrate progress.
The Impact:
This project is designed to empower women with the education, support, and community they need to thrive. By taking part, women will not only improve their own physical and mental health, but also positively influence the wellbeing of their families and communities.
Sessions are completely free thanks to National Lottery players, and will begin soon.
If you’re a woman in Widnes or Halton and would like to register your interest on the waiting list, click here to complete a short application form and Karis will get back to you with more information asap. Feel free to share this with any other women you think could benefit from these sessions.
With the support of Educate Your Plate the cycles of poor health can be broken and a healthier, happier future for generations to come can be built.
