Could a simple conversation help someone make a positive change in their life? That's the principle behind Making Every Contact Count (MECC), a proven approach that helps people use everyday interactions to support healthier lifestyles and improved wellbeing.
A MECC conversation can take just a few minutes, but it has the potential to make a significant and lasting difference. You don't need to be a health expert to have meaningful conversations that encourage positive change. By recognising opportunities to talk about health and wellbeing, staff, volunteers and community members can help people access the support and information they need.
This half-day training will help participants develop:
- Knowledge of healthy lifestyle information, advice and guidance
- Understanding of behaviour change theory and techniques
- The ability to recognise opportunities to start conversations about health and wellbeing
- Greater confidence in initiating discussions about health and wellbeing
- Awareness of local services and support available for signposting
MECC is ideal for anyone whose role involves supporting, engaging with, or working alongside members of the public. The skills gained can be applied across a wide range of settings, helping to create healthier communities through everyday conversations.
