Delivered byStarting Tuesday 7th March - 7 week course | Cost: FreeIf you are caring for a family member or friend who has been diagnosed with dementia then starting Tuesday 7th March 2023, Halton Carers Centre will be delivering a 7 week training course in St Maries Church, Lugsdale Road, Widnes.
The course will look at some of the behaviours associated with dementia, the trigger or cause of these behaviours and strategies to help manage these behaviours. Each session will last for 90 mins and the weekly sessions are as follows

Making a behaviour plan
Behaviour strategies and unhelpful thoughts
Communication styles
Planning for the future
Introduction to pleasant events and your mood

Delivered bySundays 10am | Cost: FreeMeet at the Pavillion. A get together for people who may feel lonely, isolated or are struggling with their mental health. No need to book, just turn up.

Our ‘Eat @ The Heath’ meetings are aimed at over 50’s who are interested in getting out of the house to enjoy some social time – a great opportunity to meet new people and to make new friends.
Don’t worry about coming alone as our staff and our local police community support officers will be there to welcome you and introduce you to new people – you’ll feel at ease in a very relaxed setting.
For anyone struggling for transport we have access to a minibus which can pick up & drop off guests locally (limited spaces available – contact Eileen for details).

Delivered byMonday to Friday - 10.00am to 3.00pm | Cost: FreeWe provide a community based welcoming environment where emotional and psychological support is available for people from Halton whose lives have been touched by cancer, whether they are patients, carers, or those who have been bereaved. The Centre is open for pre-arranged appointments between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday. Please call us to make an appointment and one of our support team will arrange a time to be here for you.
Family Arts Club
Delivered byVariety of days and weeks depending on venue | Cost: FreeThey are hosting a series of family art clubs at various libraries around St Helens - the intention being that they try to foster relations between different groups within the community.
The sessions are FREE and open to all and they would love it if some of your group members attended- could you please circulate the information about the upcoming sessions to your members.
They are currently exploring re-imbursing bus fares etc for attendees.
Jim will be at the next Refugee Week meeting, so if you have any questions about the sessions, please feel free to ask him.
