  • Dementia Cafe - Monthly

    The sessions are usually held on the first Sunday of each month at 3pm | Cost: Free

    Our Dementia Café is held every month in the café at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre
    and Museum.
    The session offers attendees and their carers a place to socialize with someone who
    understands, in a relaxed and interesting setting.
    The sessions are usually held on the first Sunday of each month at 3pm.
    (Please note: January’s session will be held on Sunday 8th January).
    No need to book—this is a drop in session.
    Refreshments are available to purchase.

  • Dementia Carers Group

    Every Second Monday of the month. | Cost: Free

    An opportunity to meet other carers who also provide care to a loved one with dementia, swap ideas, get support, advice and build a support network. Drop in, no need to book.

  • Dementia Friendly Coffee & Chat St Helens

    Wednesdays 10am-12pm | Cost: Paid

    Every Wednesday for a coffee, tea, and chat. For people aged 50+ living with dementia and their carers who want a safe space to socialise and meet new people. £2.50 per session.

  • Dementia Training - START Training

    Starting Tuesday 7th March - 7 week course | Cost: Free

    If you are caring for a family member or friend who has been diagnosed with dementia then starting Tuesday 7th March 2023, Halton Carers Centre will be delivering a 7 week training course in St Maries Church, Lugsdale Road, Widnes.

    The course will look at some of the behaviours associated with dementia, the trigger or cause of these behaviours and strategies to help manage these behaviours. Each session will last for 90 mins and the weekly sessions are as follows
                           Stress and Wellbeing
                           Reasons for behaviour
                          Making a behaviour plan
                          Behaviour strategies and unhelpful thoughts
                           Communication styles
                          Planning for the future
                           Introduction to pleasant events and your mood
                          Using your skills in the future

  • Digital Coffee Morning (online)

    Online coffee morning. Open to anyone aged 50+.

    Getting online. Phone, tablet and laptop set up. Emails, social media and online entertainment. And many other issues.

  • DRC Sport Sessions (Deaf Resource Centre) Ages 8-16

    £4.00 a session. Sports sessions for those hard of hearing aged 8-16

    Sundays 10am | Cost: Free

    Meet at the Pavillion. A get together for people who may feel lonely, isolated or are struggling with their mental health. No need to book, just turn up.

  • Eat @ The Heath 2022 - Weekly Meetings

    Every Wednesday | Cost: Paid

    Weekly Meetings: We are also hosting weekly meetings with tea/coffee and cake for £2 per person. See all dates below.

    Our ‘Eat @ The Heath’ meetings are aimed at over 50’s who are interested in getting out of the house to enjoy some social time – a great opportunity to meet new people and to make new friends.
    Don’t worry about coming alone as our staff and our local police community support officers will be there to welcome you and introduce you to new people – you’ll feel at ease in a very relaxed setting.
    For anyone struggling for transport we have access to a minibus which can pick up & drop off guests locally (limited spaces available – contact Eileen for details).

    WEEKLY MEETINGS

    11.30AM – 1.30PM, £2 PER PERSON – no need to book:

    September – Wednesday 07th, 14th and 21st
    October – Wednesday 05th, 12th and 19th
    November – 02nd, 09th, 16th and 23rd
