This free conference aims to shed light on why suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50. The reasons why a man takes his own life is very complex and often misunderstood. With pressures such unemployment, poverty and addiction it is more important than ever to raise awareness of the issues that impact men and what we all can do to help keep our men well.
Some themes that will be explored are:
- What are the issues men face
- Common coping mechanisms
- Barriers to seeking help
- Communication styles adopted by men
- How to engage men
Key speakers will include:
- Change Grow Live (drug and alcohol services)
- Child Bereavement UK exploring how grief presents in men and boys
- Health Improvement Team (looking at issues men face),
- Beacon Gambling Trust (Gambling and men).
The conference will consist of presentations, Q&A’s and lived experience involvement.
Lunch, tea and coffee will be provided. This will also allow the opportunity for networking.
