Torus Foundation and Community Investment Fund

Torus Foundation is the charitable arm of Torus, which is more than just a social landlord.

The Foundation works with tenants and the wider community on a number of projects to help people work towards employment, supporting families through financial advice, and increased the number of tenants and wider community be online with computer training and more.

Through partnership working and relationship building, the Foundation is bringing a positive difference to communities and improve lives across Liverpool, St Helens, Warrington, and the surrounding areas.

Torus Foundation is partly funded by Torus Group’s HMS, which donates a proportion of its profits through gift aid. This is a valuable resource supporting their  aim to improve the quality of life and wellbeing for all their customers.

Local charities and organisations across Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington can apply for up to £1,500 (each financial year) worth of the funding.

Application Criteria

Each application will need to demonstrate how a project or initiative will make a difference for Torus tenants or those living in surrounding Torus neighbourhoods.

The application will need to fit in with at least one of their key focus areas:

  • Providing Employment and Skills opportunities
  • Building people’s skills and confidence online with Go Digital
  • Assisting people with money and benefits through Money Matters
  • Helping communities to improve their Health and Wellbeing
  • Providing a fun and safe environment for Young People

 

Who can apply for the funding?

  • Any constituted community group that consists of Torus residents or operates in an area that benefits Torus residents
  • Any constituted residents group
  • Any organisation that delivers services within a Torus neighbourhood.

When is funding awarded?

The tenant panel is held quarterly, and you should receive a response within 12 weeks of submitting the application. If further information is required before the tenant panel, a member of the team will be in touch.

How many times can the group apply for funding?

A group can apply for a particular scheme or project, but you can apply for as many schemes or projects as you wish up to the value of £1,500 in the financial year. If your application is unsuccessful, you are more than welcome to submit a new application for a revised project.

*Please note, additional funding will not be provided if an evaluation form of the last project awarded has not been received*

What is not eligible for Community Investment Funding?

Torus Foundation will not award funding to organisations that do not meet their criteria as mentioned above. They will not fund any organisation that has previously had funding from them that has not been completed satisfactorily including failure to provide monitoring/evaluation information. They welcome bids from commercial organisations providing their project meets our objectives and organisational values.

The funding cannot be used to:

  • Promote or support any political or solely religious activity
  • Provide a service that would disadvantage persons within any of their neighbourhoods
  • Provide any services that Torus are responsible for, e.g. repairs
  • Day to day running costs such as rent costs, utility bills etc
  • Staffing costs
