About this event
In 2023 St Helens will once again be the Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture* – a time to shout about our great Borough.
At this session they will:
• Update you about their plans for St Helens Borough of Culture.
• Let you know how you can get involved, and how they can support your ideas.
• Tell you about currently planned projects.
World of Glass Illuminate (Session for families and their under 5's)
World of Glass will be exploring glass objects in their museum and imaging them as bigger shapes. What could we do with them? Could they become a big climbing frame? or a giant slide? How do certain colours make us feel? What do our faces look like when we feel happy?
As part of 'The Big Draw festival' they are creating their own colourful shapes on the world outside by drawing onto their glass bridge. What colour will you choose?
Fun Free Workshops on Friday 23rd September 2022
We are running three short workshops for St Helens residents who are unemployed / unable to work on Friday 23rd September 2022 at The Beacon Building, College Street, St Helens. WA10 1TF. There is a £30 gift voucher for each participant who completes a workshop and lunch is also provided.

HERE: An Augmented Reality Art Trail
An exhibition with a difference launches in St Helens town centre in September. The HERE exhibition uses augmented reality (AR) to showcase virtual artworks, sound installations and performances – together creating a digital portrait of St Helens.
Developments in AR mean audiences of all ages actively engage with popular computer games such as Pokemon Go. They have harnessed this interest to explore how it can be used to share multimedia artwork - usually confined to a gallery or performance space.Cafe Laziz Relaunch
Café Laziz are relaunching on Thursday 15th September 2022 at Central Link Children’s Centre.
They are open every Thursday from 12-2pm for lunch and takeaway orders, and every Thursday thereafter.
They are looking forward to welcoming all customers back to their café and hope you will come along to support them, please bring along your friends and family.
Autumn Physical Activity Programmes - St Helens Council
St Helens Sports Development have 2 new programmes starting this month, plus their community-based Gentle Exercise sessions for older people.
World Suicide Prevention Day and World Mental Health Day
Each year, World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) takes place on 10th September, and World Mental Health Day (WMHD) takes place on 10th October.
The World Health Organisation sets the theme for WSPD, which this year is ‘Creating Hope through Action’, and the World Federation for Mental Health set the theme for WMHD, and this year it is ‘Make Mental Health and Wellbeing for all a Global Priority’.
St Helens Suicide Memorial Event - Thursday 29th September 2022
St Helens annual Suicide Memorial Service will be held on Thursday 29th September 2022 this year at St Helens Town Hall, Library Street, St Helens, WA10 1HP. The event will start at 7pm with arrivals from 6:30pm.
