Nearly 500 people attended webinars this week hosted by the Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) marking the launch of their latest training resource: Social Isolation and Loneliness Training.
The sessions explored the themes of social isolation, loneliness, and the value of meaningful connection, while also introducing the newly developed course content.
This new training replaces the earlier Social Isolation (Step Up) Training, which was first introduced in June 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and has since been completed over 175,000 times.
The updated course draws on feedback from the original program, current research, and real-life experiences.
Its goals include:
• Raising awareness of social isolation and loneliness
• Helping people recognize signs that someone may be struggling
• Offering practical tips and ideas for providing support
• Emphasizing the importance of social connection
• Supporting the development of stronger, more connected communities
A preview of the training is available to watch online.
