A Multi-Agency Drug & Alcohol Event is being held on 21st January 2025, at the DCBL Stadium, with a focus on ketamine, highlighting risks and the support available in Halton. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of ketamine use and other drug trends, the confidence to spot warning signs, and a clear action plan for accessing support and working collaboratively to safeguard young people.
Nationally, there were 14,352 children and young people (aged 17 and under) in alcohol and drug treatment between April 2023 and March 2024. This is a 16% increase from the previous year . There was also a rise in the number reporting problems with ketamine, from 4.5% in 2021 to 2022 to 8.4% this year, which means more children & young people reported problems with ketamine than with cocaine for the first time. (Gov.uk 28.11.2024).
This rise in Ketamine use is evident in Halton too.
