This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, a great opportunity to highlight the importance of good mental health, reduce stigma, and encourage small, practical steps that support wellbeing.
This year’s theme is Taking Action, a reminder that small steps really do add up. As part of the week, you can meet the St Helens Adult and Community Learning team at the Picnic in the Park community event at Taylor Park on Thursday 14 May, 12–4pm.
Hosted by St Helens Wellbeing, this free event is all about bringing people together to connect, relax, and focus on positive wellbeing. It’s a chance to meet local organisations, enjoy some live music, and spend time in the beautiful surroundings of the Green Flag award-winning park. It might even inspire someone to join the next Photography & Wellbeing course!
Throughout June, they'll also be running a range of free wellbeing workshops and short courses, including:
- Ways to Wellbeing
- Air Dry Clay Summer Crafts
- Photography & Wellbeing
- Mental Health Awareness
- Words for Wellbeing
- Time for Me
Being part of a safe and supportive community plays an important role in mental health. At St Helens Adult & Community Learning (ACL), they focus on helping people feel connected, confident, and able to take positive steps forward, whether that’s for wellbeing, personal development, or moving towards employment.
