Listening Service Project Worker
YMCA St Helens are seeking a part time (20 hours per week) listening service project worker to add to their growing team providing support to 12-18 year olds with low level mental related concerns/issues, helping them to build resilience and develop positive strategies to deal with their mental health, reducing the need for furthermore intensive support further down the line. (Salary: £11,990.29 per year (for 20 hours a week))
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide 1 to 1 listening service to young people, observing all required welfare and safety procedures
- To work with the Listening service Coordinator to plan and deliver designated project areas activities
- Befriend and support individual young people in the various settings, assess their needs
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- Experience/qualifications in mental health areas of working with children and young people
- Previous experience in youth work settings working with children and young people on mental health issues
- Very strong young people’s skill
- Very strong listening skills
- Strong commitment to young people and an understanding of the factors affecting their lives, ability to effectively communicate
