Improving Communities Awareness Of Cancer VCSE Small Grants Programme

As part of the Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance CVS Partnership, partners have secured funding to further develop and enhance the work of grass roots voluntary and community groups on improving communities awareness of cancer, early signs & symptoms and screening uptakes  across the sub-region. The funding will support very local activity to support communities to engage and be supported with concerns of cancer, early symptoms and cancer screening uptakes.

The covid pandemic has created unusual times, but we think extra resources to support and improve communities understanding and engagement of awareness is going to be critical now more than ever. We would encourage groups to apply and to think about how they can offer their support for our communities not coming forward with symptoms, not understanding the early signs of cancer or how to access national screening programmes.

The funding will enable Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise groups to develop and deliver a range of projects that support the ambitions and priorities of the Improving Partnership in Cheshire and Merseyside.

The CVS network across Cheshire & Merseyside is running this small grant programme. In three areas Knowsley, Halton & Warrington they will establish a Community of Practice that will bring funded organisations together to share best practice and to look at ways in which we can work together to make a real difference in our communities.

Groups who are applying for funding must be willing to commit to working as part of the Community of Practice. This will involve attending network sessions and sharing their experiences with others.
