Child Safety Week 2026: Making Prevention Possible

Child Safety Week returns from 1 – 7 June 2026, Halton Council are encouraging everyone to raise awareness of how we can keep children safe.

In Halton, hospital data shows that A&E attendance rates are among the highest in England - particularly for children under five - and this is reflected in higher hospital admission rates. The leading cause of emergency admissions for children is accidental injury, many of which are preventable.

That’s why this year’s theme, "Making Pevention Possible", is so important. Simple actions at home, on the road and in our communities can make a big difference in keeping children safe and well.

Did you know that through the Halton Family Hubs they offer Halton HELPS (Home Equipment for Little People’s Safety)? This service provides families with practical home safety equipment and advice to help prevent accidents for young children.

Everyone who works with children and families has a role to play.

Please take a few minutes to get involved:

Together, we can help prevent accidents and give every child in Halton the safest possible start in life.
