Windows 10 End of Life: What It Means for Your Organisation

What’s happening?
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will reach its End of Life on 14 October 2025. This means it will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or technical support.

Why does it matter?
If your organisation is still using Windows 10 after this date, your devices could become vulnerable to cyber threats. This puts your data, your staff, and the people you support at risk.

It’s not just Windows 10
The End of Life also affects some older Microsoft software that relies on Windows 10 to run. This includes certain versions of Microsoft Office, security tools, and other applications that may no longer be supported or safe to use. It’s important to review all the software your organisation uses to check for compatibility and support.

What should you do?

  1. Check your devices
Find out which computers are still running Windows 10.
  2. Review your software
Make a list of the Microsoft programs you use and check if they’ll still be supported after October 2025.
  3. Plan to upgrade
Consider moving to Windows 11 or replacing older devices that can’t support it.
  4. Budget ahead
Upgrading can take time and money—start planning now to avoid last-minute stress.
  5. Get support
Reach out to your local IT support, council digital leads, or trusted tech partners for advice. There may be funding or donated equipment available for VCFSE organisations.

Local support is growing

We’ve teamed up with the local authority to reach out to local businesses and their suppliers with a request for support. This could include donations of equipment, technical help, or advice to help VCFSE organisations like yours stay safe and up to date.
