Vision Support Halton is inviting local residents, partners, professionals and community organisations to join them for a special day of activities and awareness-raising as part of National Eye Health Week 2026.
The event on Tuesday 22 September 2026 will provide an opportunity to learn more about eye health, sight loss and the support available to people living with visual or sensory impairment across Halton.
National Eye Health Week highlights the importance of looking after our eyes, having regular sight tests and ensuring people living with sight loss know where they can access support.
Vision Support Halton Open Day
The Open Day will take place at Halton Sensory Services from 10am to 4pm.
Visitors will have the opportunity to:
- Meet the Vision Support Halton team
- Learn about local support services
- Explore assistive technology and equipment
- Speak with partner organisations
- Find out how to access support for themselves, a family member or someone they support
The event is open to people living with sight loss, family members, carers, professionals, community organisations and anyone interested in finding out more about the services and support available locally.
Mersey Gateway Bridge Light Up
As part of the National Eye Health Week celebrations, the Mersey Gateway Bridge will also be illuminated to raise awareness of eye health and sight loss across the Halton community.
Vision Support Halton will host a small community gathering to mark the occasion and celebrate the achievements, experiences and resilience of people living with sight loss.
The gathering will take place at 7.30pm at The Deck, Runcorn, WA7 1GT.
Everyone is welcome
Whether you are living with sight loss, support someone who is, work in health or social care, represent a community organisation, or simply want to learn more about eye health, everyone is welcome to attend.
The events provide a chance to connect with local services, discover the support available and help raise awareness of the experiences of people living with sight loss.
Together, we can raise awareness, promote good eye health and help create a more inclusive Halton for people living with sight loss.
