Social Media & Events Co-ordinator - St Helens Parent Carer Forum

 

Hours and Pay: This is a self-employed, home-based role, contracted to deliver 10 hours per week term-time only (390 hours p.a.). Hours can be worked flexibly but will need to cover a minimum of 3 days per week to ensure regular engagement over the week.

Payment will be at £15.00 per hour. This will be paid on a monthly basis when invoice and timesheet are presented at the end of each month.

This role is funded for at least one year. Continuation of the role will be subject to further funding.

Background: 

Listen 4 Change applies annually for funding via Contact for a Department for Education parent carer participation grant to run a parent carer forum in St Helens, an independent parent-led group, run by parent carer volunteers, to ensure that the parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25 based in St Helens can participate fully in the development of services within St Helens. 

The Social Media and Events Co-ordinator will lead on expanding, developing and maintaining social media content and events to increase our reach and engagement with local parent carers and promote parent participation and coproduction.

Purpose of the role:

To develop and deliver a social media strategy to elevate and enhance our presence across various digital channels through targeted, engaging content creation, as well as managing user activity and driving campaigns and initiatives.

To support the Steering Group in the organisation, administration and promotion of Parent Carer events including but not limited to coffee events, conferences, training etc.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Developing and delivering a social media strategy and content for Listen 4 Change to increase presence and parent-carer engagement across social media platforms including but not limited to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
  • Maintaining and updating the Listen 4 Change website with appropriate content.
  • Ensuring all content shared with parent carers via email is mirrored on digital channels.
  • Developing the Listen 4 Change brand and ensuring consistency across all platforms and communications
  • Track and analyse performance metrics for social media and website, preparing regular reports to share with the steering group to inform decision-making.
  • Support the Steering Group in the organisation, administration and promotion of face to face and virtual parent-carer events, using such events to promote Listen 4 Change on social media platforms or with local press and agencies.
  • Work closely with the Listen 4 Change Steering Group, especially the Chair and Forum Coordinator to understand Parent Carer Forum activities, challenges, and future plans to factor into the strategy.
  • To set up and oversee communications, calendar and organisational systems for Steering Group and Parent Representatives to support more effective co-ordination and information sharing.
  • To carry out any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the position as required.

 

Experience, skills and knowledge

Essential criteria:

  • Professional experience in social media management and creative content creation
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and editing tools
  • Experience reviewing and analysing social media insights
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to self-motivate, assessing priorities and driving own activity
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Necessary equipment (WiFi etc.) to enable consistent and efficient home working

Desirable criteria:

Lived experience as a parent carer of a child or young person with SEND or experience of working with families with children and young people with SEND.
