Refugee Week activities and events taking place in St Helens

Refugee Week activities and events taking place in St Helens which will mark the celebration of the immense contributions that refugees and people seeking sanctuary make to the  borough and to the UK. It’s shaping up to be an amazing week, and they would like to encourage you and your friends and families to join one or more of these events and activities during the week. There is quite a bit going on, so I’m sure that everyone will find something that they can support!

Please note some highlights:

  • The (nearly) full timetable of events and activities is attached. There will be things happening every day of the week, so plenty of choice for everyone’s interests and availability!
  • 2024 will see the return of the Communities Together event, which will take place at the St Helens Parish Church again – please see the attached poster for more information. They will have a number of music performances, free food, children’s activities, and around 20 stalls from community groups and organisations. More information will be circulated next week, including the full programme of performances.
  • Please note that, in reference to the overall timetable above, the Breakfast Club on Monday morning has changed time and venue (they didn’t have enough time to change the information in the timetable, though it’s still on Monday morning); please refer to the attached poster from Family Hubs and Children’s Centres for up-to-date information.
  • If you wish to join Café Laziz’s Eat and Meet event on Monday, please scan the QR code in the attached poster to get your free ticket.
  • St Helens Refugee Week will include a unique exhibition by a young artist of refugee background, Eman Al Naji – the Home exhibition will be available at St Helens Library (World of Glass) throughout the week, and you can meet the artist at the opening event that will take place on Wednesday 19 June at 12:00 at the St Helens Library.
