Pam Meredith has received the Robin Pilkington Special Achievement Award at the Halton and St Helens VCA Volunteer Awards 2026, recognising more than five decades of dedication to supporting people and strengthening communities across St Helens.
Presented in partnership with the Rainford Trust, the award celebrates an individual whose voluntary contribution has gone above and beyond, reflecting the compassion, commitment and determination that make a lasting difference to others.
For more than 50 years, Pam has given her time, energy and experience to a remarkable range of community activities. Her contribution has included supporting children, families and older people, leading community initiatives, responding during emergencies, improving local spaces and helping voluntary organisations flourish.
Throughout that time, Pam has become a trusted source of advice, encouragement and practical support – someone who steps forward when help is needed and works to ensure that people and community organisations are not left to face challenges alone.
Her commitment was particularly evident when local residents were evacuated from their homes during a major emergency in 2025. Pam was there to support the community, just as she has been there to help children with reading and provide leadership and guidance to local groups.
Her nomination described her as proactive, wise, diplomatic and thoughtful, highlighting her ability to combine leadership with practical action and a genuine commitment to others.
The award also recognises the dedication Pam has maintained while providing long-term support to a close family member facing significant health challenges.
The award was presented by Graham Morgan, Deputy Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, during the ceremony at The Heath in Runcorn.
The Robin Pilkington Award, established in partnership with the Rainford Trust, honours the legacy of community service and recognises people whose efforts help make their communities better places to live.
Pam's award is a tribute to a lifetime spent supporting others, inspiring fellow volunteers and strengthening the voluntary and community sector.
Halton and St Helens VCA congratulates Pam on this exceptional achievement and thanks her for more than five decades of generosity, leadership and unwavering community spirit.
