Outstanding volunteers and community organisations recognised for their contribution to local communities

The dedication, kindness and achievements of five outstanding volunteers and community groups were recognised at the Halton and St Helens VCA Volunteer Awards 2026, where they received Highly Commended recognition for their exceptional contributions.

Held at The Heath in Runcorn, the awards celebrated the people and organisations who give their time, energy and passion to make a positive difference across Halton and St Helens.

The Highly Commended nominees recognised across five award categories were:

  • Biggest Heart Award – Stephen Jackson
  • Personal Achievement Award – James Wooding
  • Outstanding Contribution Award – Veronica Jones
  • Volunteer Team Award – Supper Club – Fortuna Female Society
  • Halton Culture Champion Award – Robert Littler

Their recognition reflects the breadth of volunteering and community action across the area, from individuals making a difference through personal commitment to teams bringing people together and helping local communities thrive.

The awards formed part of Halton’s Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture 2026 programme, celebrating the contribution of volunteers to community life, culture, inclusion and local wellbeing.

Halton and St Helens VCA congratulates all five Highly Commended nominees and thanks them for the time, commitment and enthusiasm they bring to their communities.

Their achievements are a reminder that volunteering takes many forms, and that every contribution can help create stronger, more connected communities.
