St Helens Wellbeing Core Mental Health training is free and they also have free spaces available for volunteers (discounted rates for staff in volunteer organisations) on the Mental Health First Aid training, which is accredited by Mental Health First Aid England (MHFAE).
The remaining two-day MHFA courses (info attached) for this year are in the table below, and they still have free spaces available as they spread these out through the year.
These are split over 4 sessions to reduce learner fatigue:
- 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th September, 9am – 1:30pm
- 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th November, 9am – 1:30pm
- 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd January, 9am -1:30pm
- 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th March, 9am – 1:30pm
Through a blend of instructor-led live sessions and self-learning activities, learners will:
- Develop practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues –
- Gain confidence to reassure and support a person in distress –
- Learn how to guide them to further support for recovery
To register your interest for a place on the MHFA course, please fill in and return the attached Expression of Interest form.
To book on to any of their other training (attached) which is free to attend, or for more information, please email chcp.sthelens@nhs.net or call 01744 371111.
This training provides a foundation to support those around you (including your customers/clients, friends, family, (and yourself)), with knowledge around common mental health problems, where to signpost to for support and self-care tips. It is also a useful stepping stone to gain some knowledge ahead of attending the MHFA course.
Alternatively, you can register your interest via this brief 5 step online form on their Training Webpage (link below), and for the last step just add all training you’d like to attend or for more info about these:
