A Liverpool City Region–wide support offer is now available across all Local Authorities, aimed at helping care-experienced young people and those who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), or at risk of becoming NEET.
The initiative is designed for young people aged 18–21 who live within the Liverpool City Region and offers tailored, practical support to help break down barriers to participation, improve wellbeing and support positive progression into employment, education or training.
What’s on offer
Across the LCR, Local Authorities are working collaboratively to provide a package of support which includes:
- Targeted employability and skills support, including confidence-building, work readiness and progression planning
- Access to grant-funded opportunities, such as:
- Training and accreditation costs
- Equipment, travel or digital support
- Short-term financial assistance to remove barriers to participation
- Personalised, wraparound support aligned to the young person’s needs, aspirations and circumstances
- Links to employers, education providers and community-based opportunities
Who is eligible
- Young people aged 18–21
- Care-experienced, and/or
- NEET or at risk of becoming NEET
- Resident within the Liverpool City Region
Why this matters for Social Prescribing
This offer is designed to complement existing social prescribing pathways by:
- Addressing wider determinants of health such as employment, income, confidence and social connection
- Providing practical resources and funding to help young people take their next steps
- Offering an alternative route of support for young people who may be disengaged from traditional services
