Could your organisation help make Halton a more breastfeeding-friendly place?
Applications are opening soon for the Halton Breastfeeding Family Development Grant, offering local businesses, charities, community groups, voluntary organisations and workplaces the opportunity to access £500–£3,000 to support projects that welcome, encourage and empower breastfeeding families.
This is a fantastic opportunity to turn your ideas into action and help create positive, lasting change across our communities.
Funding could support projects such as:
- Purchasing equipment to improve breastfeeding-friendly spaces
- Enhancing or upgrading existing facilities
- Delivering infant feeding training for staff, volunteers or community members
- Hosting family-friendly events that celebrate and support breastfeeding
- Creating new initiatives that help families feel more confident breastfeeding in your setting
The team want to hear about your ideas – and the difference they will make!
When applying, you are encouraged to think about the impact your project will have for breastfeeding families.
Successful applications should clearly explain:
- What you would like to do – Tell us about your project idea and how the funding will be used.
- Who will benefit – How will your project support local families, parents, babies and your wider community?
- What difference it will make – How will your project help families feel more welcomed, confident and supported?
- How the impact can continue – How will you maintain the benefits of your project after the grant funding has ended? Could your improvements, training, resources or activities continue to support families in the future?
The team want to support projects that create meaningful change and leave a lasting legacy for breastfeeding families in Halton.

Alongside the grant opportunity, the team are also inviting businesses, venues and organisations to join the Halton Breastfeeding Friendly Award Scheme.
By signing up, you’ll receive:
- Guidance and support to become more breastfeeding friendly
- A certificate and stickers to display proudly
- Promotion through the Halton Family Hub App and website, helping families find welcoming places locally
Becoming breastfeeding friendly doesn’t have to mean big changes — small actions can make a huge difference in helping families feel comfortable and included.

Before applying, please consider whether your proposed project may already be eligible for support through another Council department.
