Having honest and timely conversations about death and dying is crucial for providing good end-of-life care. However, many barriers, such as a lack of confidence, societal taboos around discussing death, and confusion about who should initiate such conversations, can prevent patients, caregivers, and families from obtaining the necessary information and support they need. Dying Matters Week provides an opportunity to begin these essential conversation’s, and advice on how to start honest, transparent conversations to help and empower people is available on the Dying Matters website:

"Dying, just like being born, is a process our bodies go through quite naturally with recognised phases which are pretty much the same for everyone. It’s all very ordinary. Knowing what to expect takes away a lot of the fear."
We encourage you to incorporate Dying Matters talking points in any groups, events, or coffee morning you are hosting on Dying Matters week, and leaflets and talking points guidance are available on request.
