Deafness Resource Centre - Vacancies

The Deafness Resource Centre provides services that aim to empower, support and enhance the quality of life of D/deaf people.

Currently their services are offered across the Boroughs of St Helens, Halton and Knowsley. The Children, Young People and Families Service also covers the Merseyside region.

They currently have vacancies for a Family Support Worker and a Community Team Leader.

Family Support Worker

They are looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to support families, children and young people living with Deafness and hearing loss.  The Family Support Worker will work with D/deaf children, young people and their families to facilitate access to information and advice to make informed decisions and choices; improve communication within the family unit and facilitate a range of social and recreational opportunities. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Deafness and associated issues with level 2 British Sign Language or a native sign language user, ideally with direct experience of delivering a range of family & children’s services and activities.

They can offer flexible working arrangements to suit candidate’s personal commitments either on a full time basis (36 hours per week) or part time (minimum of 18 hours per week). This will be discussed at interview stage.

Community Team Leader

Full Time 36 hours per week Salary £22,129

They are looking to recruit an experienced manager with the drive and commitment to lead a staff team in developing support services and improving access for the D/deaf Community  This key role will manage and develop all outreach services and provision across the Merseyside region. Working with key partners and managing a staff team, the Community Team Leader will implement and deliver a range of services, events and promotional activities to ensure D/deaf people are aware of, and can access, services and opportunities to support their independence and improve their overall wellbeing.

The successful candidate will have direct experience of managing staff and volunteers, with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Deafness and associated issues. The ability to communicate and influence at all levels is essential, ideally with a BSL level 2 qualification (or native BSL user).
