Cheshire Youth Commission which runs a research project called the ‘Big Conversation’ have been commissioned by the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner to find out what the issues and solutions are for young people living in the county.
Specifically, regarding our 4 priorities:
- Sexual Harassment
- Online Safety
- Hate Crime
- Community Safety / Anti-social Behaviour
Can you please support their efforts to inform local policy and provide a voice to young people across Cheshire!
They want to hear what young people think about these topics and aim, through mind maps, quizzes and debates to open up these conversations. Their aim is to get 2000 young people in the Cheshire area involved by discussing their experiences with these topics and hearing what they think needs to be done in order to solve these issues.
Their workshops are flexible and cater to each group because no one young person is the same, this means they offer online workshops, group workshops and even working with one or a couple of young people in order to fully engage with them and their ideas! What makes the Youth Commission stand out is that it is peer-led, so it is made by young people for young people. They share all of the ideas and solutions back to the Police and Crime Commissioner, the chief constable and their senior team and local decision makers.
They would love to work with the young people that you support. They will be running these workshops from now until early October. If this is something you are interested in, please contact Becca Evans via email Becca@leaders-unlocked.org for more details.
Additionally, they have created 4 online surveys for each of the topics to gather young people’s opinions virtually. If this is something you would like to support attached are posters sharing a QR code for the online surveys which they would really appreciate any efforts to distribute to young people.
