CARE UK Charity has released two new reports showcasing the difference it continues to make for individuals and families experiencing poverty and hardship across Halton and Warrington. The reports highlight the growing demand for practical support, the dedication of volunteers and staff, and the vital role played by community donations, fundraising and partnerships.
As the only organisation in the area providing this type of practical support, the charity helps people moving into empty accommodation, rebuilding their lives following a crisis, or struggling to afford everyday essentials.
Since the beginning of 2025, CARE UK Charity has:
- Completed 1,098 household referrals
- Provided 5,396 essential household items
- Supported more than 980 children
- Distributed over 14,000 items of clothing to people in need
In 2025 alone, the charity's Homes Team completed 701 referrals, providing 3,347 household essentials, including bedding, kitchen packs, cleaning packs and beds. More than 300 households with children received support, reaching over 600 children, while the Clothing Referral Scheme distributed 10,005 clothing items.
The charity's latest newsletter also highlights its achievements during the first half of 2026. Between January and June, CARE UK Charity received 313 referrals, provided 1,456 household essentials, supported more than 380 children, and distributed over 3,600 clothing items.
Fundraising events have played an important part in sustaining this work, with popular Fill a Bag events raising £9,923 and community Jumble Sales generating £6,393 during the first six months of 2026. The charity also recorded almost 38,000 customer transactions across its stores during the same period.
The reports celebrate the contribution of volunteers who support everything from donation sorting and clothing referrals to fundraising events, book scanning, house clearances and community outreach activities.
CARE UK Charity has also continued to strengthen partnerships with organisations including IKEA, Baby Basics Liverpool, WELL Runcorn Hub, Halton Housing Trust, Smalls for All, Alder Hey Children's Hospital, More Than Men and Bright Horizons, helping extend support to even more people across local communities.
Feedback from referral partners featured in the reports highlights the impact of the charity's work, with one professional describing the support provided as making "a genuine difference to their lives, particularly at a time when they needed support the most."
As demand for support continues to grow, CARE UK Charity is encouraging businesses, organisations and residents to get involved through donations, volunteering, fundraising and partnership working.
