HAMMA Youth Academy of Sport and Martial Arts utilises Multi Sports and physical activity to engage with some of the most hard to reach participants and beneficiaries from some of the most deprived communities in the country. Based in the Town Centre of St Helens, Merseyside, HAMMA Established in 2018, has a very successful history of working closely with the local community to engage participants in sessions and involve them in the planning and organisation of HAMMA’s offer/delivery. HAMMA is seen by all who attend as a community. A place where people can participate in sport and physical activities in a safe, friendly and positive environment. Initially set up as a “fighters” gym, HAMMA, very quickly changed its ethos to become more community lead whilst still offering facilities and training opportunities for those in the elite of their sport. A family gym that alongside its community involvement has been successful in winning over 50 British MMA titles, European Titles and has a youth academy ranked in the top 3 in Europe. HAMMA’s gym is seen as a home for many people and it is important that a safe environment is provided for people to attend sessions.
