People of all ages came together in Prescot and St Helens recently to explore DJing, graffiti art and Break Dance as part of Age Without Limits Day 2026.
Delivered by Powered by Hip Hop, the activities brought together Chatty Café attendees, grandparents, parents and children through creative workshops designed to encourage people to try something new and connect with others.
At Shakespeare North Playhouse, Chatty Café attendees explored DJ mixing, scratch DJing and graffiti art for the first time. Participants learnt how DJs mix music between tracks with support from Tommy P-Nuts, a multiple national and international scratch DJ champion from Leigh, before creating their own graffiti tags with artist Kingsyze.
A second intergenerational workshop in St Helens brought together grandparents, parents and children to experience DJing, circus skills and Break Dance activities together.
One grandparent commented:
"It was great to spend time with my grandchildren learning their hobbies. I didn't expect to have so much fun."
The activities formed part of Age Without Limits Day, a national campaign led by the Centre for Ageing Better which encourages people to challenge assumptions around ageing and continue learning, connecting and trying new experiences throughout life.
Around 40 people took part across the two workshops, with many participants trying these activities for the first time. The activities demonstrated how creativity, music and shared experiences can help bring generations together and strengthen community connections.
