Free Digital Communications support for Charities

Media and marketing experts are offering their time and expertise for free to help charities meet the digital communications challenges they are facing during the COVID-19 outbreak.  The support is being offered trough the Media Trust’s Volunteer Platform, which matches communications experts with charities in need of help.  The Media Trust has also made a digital resource hub available to offer further help.  Charities are being urged to register for the volunteer platform and begin logging in the details of the support they need.  Experts across media, creative and technology industries are also being asked to sign up to offer their help. The Media Trust has also produced a guide to volunteering to help those in the media and creative industry learn more about employer supported skills based volunteering initiatives.

iCAN Warning: Bogus District Nurse in Halton

Halton Trading Standards have had reports of a bogus district nurse operating in Halton. The nurse arrived at a resident’s home in Widnes, stating they were there to check on the residents health, but firstly they wanted to use the residents bathroom. After appearing from the bathroom, the nurse stated they did not need to check the resident’s health and left the property. It is highly likely this was an attempted burglary.  Residents should be wary of carers/nurses turning up for non-scheduled visits and should always check the carers/nurses ID or ring the care provider, if they have any concerns about their authenticity.

If you or somebody you know has been caught out by a scam or fraud please contact one of our specialist officers, Linda or Sue on 0151 511 8785 or 0151 511 8775, who are already working with people in Halton who have lost thousands of pounds to scams.

If you need advice on anything else please contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline  or 0808 223 1133

We are asking that if you are delivering services and interventions in direct response to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic then we would welcome you to share your data on a weekly basis so we can bring it all together to demonstrate the work of the sector to our local partners and decision makers.

For organisations which choose to contribute we will also provide you each week with your own infographic which you can share with your beneficiaries, volunteers and funders.  This survey is made up of tick-box questions, and the occasional free text question. The survey should take 10 minutes to complete each week.
