COVID-19 Guidance For Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Organisations

The voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector plays a key role across the country, positively impacting the life of many.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the sector has been mobilising across the UK providing practical and emotional support to vulnerable groups. Understandably, the financial implications to mobilising and supporting volunteers and the increased demand in services has placed pressure on the sector.

VE Day 8th May and Bank Holiday Weekend

Halton Borough Council are looking to bring together a list of any activity/ promo/ ideas you have for the 8th May VE day “celebration”. Or anything for VE day which will be “happening” over that bank holiday weekend.

Nothing will be “open”, but online ideas or access to a dedicated VE day photo/ heritage collection etc might be nice. Or maybe you have already thought of a grand item which everyone should definitely be told about…

Coalfields COVID-19 Recovery and Resilience Fund

The Coalfields COVID-19 Recovery & Resilience Fund is an interim replacement for the Coalfields Community Investment Programme (CCIP) and will open for enquiries on 1st May 2020.

Coalfields Trustees have recognised the importance of supporting the response to the COVID-19 crisis in former coalfield communities and have revised some of the criteria to support the delivery and sustainability of key services. There will now be an additional committee meeting in mid June 2020 and the planned committee meeting in July will consider all applications that can continue to address local needs.

Priority will be given to organisations that are delivering support services or have significantly adapted their services in order to respond to the current crisis and support vulnerable people. Awards of up to £10,000 are available.

St Paul's Community Survey

Transform Widnes, made up of St John's & St Paul's Churches, wants to be able to have more of a positive impact in the town. At the beginning of the year, they started a major project to refurbish St Paul's Church to allow it to better serve the community. The refurbishment work will make the space more welcoming with new heating, new toilets, a state-of-the art AV system, much needed repairs to the uneven flooring along with crucial repairs to the roof and tower.

They currently run a range of groups and activities that help to improve the condition of life for residents in the neighbourhood and town and would love to engage further. They want to hear from the local community about what services they think are needed in the town and how, working with other community partners St Paul's may be able to help provide those in the future. To do that they have put together a short survey (5 minutes) which they would appreciate your help in competing online via this link:


Guide Dogs New Phone Line To Support People With Sight Loss During COVID-19

Guide Dogs are providing answers and information for people with sight loss and their families during the coronavirus outbreak. They can help you identify ways to continue living actively, independently and well, refer you to their other services or help you access services by other providers. Please call 0800 781 1444 between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

Guide Dogs has changed the way it provides services in response to social distancing, with every channel being used flexibly to give you choice and access to expertise and advice promptly.  For example, Guide Dogs staff can now arrange to contact you regularly by phone to provide individual support through the social isolation period.  To access this and other services available, please call 0800 781 1444  between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday or visit to find out more.

 Deafblind customers who use BSL should contact Guide Dogs via the webpage, clicking on the SignVideo logo on the right hand side, or through a SignVideo app. This connects you to a SignVideo interpreter who will then connect to the information line.

We Want To Hear From You - Coronavirus (COVID-19): How Has Your Group, Organisation Or Service Responded? 

We are asking that if you are delivering services and interventions in direct response to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic then we would welcome you to share your data on a weekly basis so we can bring it all together to demonstrate the work of the sector to our local partners and decision makers.

For organisations which choose to contribute we will also provide you each week with your own infographic which you can share with your beneficiaries, volunteers and funders.  This survey is made up of tick-box questions, and the occasional free text question. The survey should take 10 minutes to complete each week.
