Two U.K. Mayors Are Facing Off in a DJ Battle For Charity

In contrast to the current political unrest happening Stateside, two mayors in the U.K. are engaging in a bit of playful competition for a good cause this weekend.  On Saturday, June 13, Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, and Steve Rotheram, the Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, will take part in a livestream DJ battle intended to establish which city has a richer musical history, while also raising money for COVID-19 related charities.  Viewers of the free stream can comment to vote for a winner while making donations to support the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity, which addresses homelessness, and LCRCares, which is supporting various organization in the region during the coronavirus pandemic.  Originally scheduled to happen on June 7, the stream was postponed, with organizers announcing that "this weekend does not feel like the right time to be celebrating. Instead, we are following the lead of the music industry and making sure that nothing detracts from the message people need to hear: Black Lives Matter."

Liveable Streets in St. Helens

Help St Helens Council identify locations that need traffic calming measures during the COVID19 crisis.  It’s important they introduce enhanced spaces for pedestrians and people on bikes across the Borough. This will enable social distancing for safe essential journeys and exercise.  They want to hear your thoughts to help shape and deliver this ambitious project. It’s really easy to get involved, just drop a pin on the map to quickly comment about a specific location. Once you’ve left a comment you can also share it with friends and family using social media. Please submit your comments by the end of 31 August 2020. Click here to find out more and submit your comments https://sthelensliveablestreets.commonplace.is/

Message from Community Fund North West Officer

As you may be aware COVID-19 is having a disproportionate impact on some of our communities. The National Lottery Community Fund are explicitly looking to address inequalities through the Coronavirus Community Support Fund funding, especially focusing on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, LGBT+ communities and disabled people-led organisations (DPOs).  The Coronavirus Community Support Fund is Government Funding which is being distributed on a first come first served basis so we encourage all groups to apply as soon as possible, but if you know any groups working in these communities please encourage them to apply.

We Want To Hear From You - Coronavirus (COVID-19): How Has Your Group, Organisation Or Service Responded?

We are asking that if you are delivering services and interventions in direct response to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic then we would welcome you to share your data on a weekly basis so we can bring it all together to demonstrate the work of the sector to our local partners and decision makers.

For organisations which choose to contribute we will also provide you each week with your own infographic which you can share with your beneficiaries, volunteers and funders.  This survey is made up of tick-box questions, and the occasional free text question. The survey should take 10 minutes to complete each week.
