The city region is home to half of England’s ten most deprived ‘food deserts’ – neighbourhoods with poor access to affordable and healthy food.

LCR want to change that by creating a network of affordable local produce that's easy to obtain.

Widnes Science Museum Launches Major Volunteer Drive

Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum in Widnes is calling on local people to join its growing volunteer team as part of its major Synergy project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The museum is looking to recruit new volunteers from across the Northwest to help inform, educate and inspire visitors through science, chemistry and local history, while strengthening connections with the local community.

Warrington and Halton Support Hub

Warrington & Halton Support Hub, a new out-of-hours emotional and mental health support service for adults.

The service is available between 6pm and Midnight, offering face-to-face and remote support across Warrington, Widnes, and Runcorn.

Widnes,Tuesday's 6pm to midnight, St Paul's Church, Victoria Square.

Runcorn,Thursday's 6pm to midnight. St Michael and All Angels Church.

Warm Connections Bereavement Café - St Helens

The Warm connections Bereavement café offers an informal supportive space for those who have suffered a bereavement, to meet others with similar experiences and have a chat.

They are held monthly at the St Helens Crematorium.

Refreshments provided. Make connections in your community.

Liverpool City Region Launches Support Offer for Young People Aged 18–2

A Liverpool City Region–wide support offer is now available across all Local Authorities, aimed at helping care-experienced young people and those who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), or at risk of becoming NEET.

The initiative is designed for young people aged 18–21 who live within the Liverpool City Region and offers tailored, practical support to help break down barriers to participation, improve wellbeing and support positive progression into employment, education or training.

Immersive Infinity Room Returns To Catalyst Science Discovery Centre For Year Long Run

A popular immersive installation designed to inspire recycling has made a comeback at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum in Widnes, Cheshire, for a year long residency. 

The ‘Infinity Room’ exhibit, designed by not-for-profit Every Can Counts, uses mirrors and suspended aluminium cans to demonstrate the infinite recyclability of aluminium, and raise awareness about the importance of recycling amongst children and the wider public.

'Time to Talk Day’ Community Drop-In

Beacon Savings & Loans is inviting local residents to come together for a relaxed community drop-in as part of Time to Talk Day, taking place on Thursday 5 February 2026, from 1.00pm to 3.00pm at Tea Tree Café, Runcorn.

The informal event is designed to provide a safe, welcoming space for conversation, connection and support. Visitors are encouraged to drop in for a chat, listen, or simply sit with others over tea, coffee and biscuits, all provided free of charge.

Love Music Hate Racism

Valley Brass will be hosting a Love Music Hate Racism event on 21 March 2026 at St Helens Parish Church.

The evening will feature brass band music alongside performances from around the world, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Doors open at 5:30pm with international vegetarian food provided by Café Laziz. Tickets are £9

It promises to be a warm, welcoming celebration of music and community.

Want to learn how to reduce food waste and get more from what you already have?

Join Fresh Beginnings for a fun, hands-on session where you’ll pick up practical tips, enjoy tasty food, and meet new people.

Fresh Beginnings have delivered two of these already and they have been absolutely great – you even get to take the food home that they have cooked and at no cost – completely free.

Have you heard about The Community Lottery – for local good causes?

Charities, community organisations, social business and community groups of all shapes and sizes can sign up, free of charge and get a slice of the ticket proceeds.

A generous 60% of the ticket proceeds from the the Community Lottery will go to charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups with the remainder being put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT.
