St Helens JULY 2025 VCFSE Forum
Join us for our JULY 2025 Voluntary Sector Forum! Get Ready for an Energizing Meeting at the St Helens VCSE Forum! A morning brimming with opportunity and community spirit! The day kicks off with a warm welcome and a chance to mingle over coffee from 9:30 am. Feel the anticipation as we gear up for a 10:00 am start at the welcoming Willowbrook Living Well.

Dementia Cafe at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum

The Dementia Café at the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum is held every month. The session offers attendees and their families or carers a place to socialise with people in similar situations, who understand, in a relaxed and interesting setting – as well as special offers in the cafe too!

The sessions are usually held on the first Sunday of every month at 1:00pm. There is no need to book as these are informal, drop-in sessions.

United Utilities Project Delivered by Citizens Advice St Helens

Citizens Advice St Helens have been successful in obtaining funding from United Utilities to support expectant parents and families with children under the age of one. They also have scope to support families' with children up to the age of 5 if you have any water issues.

They can provide information and guidance on a wide variety of topics The advice is tailored to the clients needs.

2026 GSK IMPACT Awards & GSK Community Health Programme – Open For Applications

applications are now open for the 2026 GSK IMPACT Awards and GSK Community Health programme, funded by GSK and managed in partnership with The King’s Fund.

The GSK IMPACT Awards are for charities with total annual income between £150,000 and £3 million. Closing date: Wednesday 20 August 2025. 

The GSK Community Health programme supports small charities tackling health inequalities with total annual income between £20,000 and £150,000. Closing date: Monday 11 August 2025.

Faiths4Change are recruiting an Executive Assistant to provide administrative and strategic support to their talented and highly regarded team. 

The Executive Assistant role is a multifaceted one; from office based to active community engagement working directly with people.
Occasional weekend and evening work is essential to the post.

Involving Patients And Service Users In Mental Health Research

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust has launched Count Me In, an innovative new approach to research. The aim is to increase the number of patients and service users involved in research so future care and treatments can be improved.

Count Me In means all patients and service users may be contacted about potential research opportunities that are relevant to them, unless they choose to opt out.

Just like your medical records, your information is protected by strict privacy rules.

Dads Forum Event - St Helens North

David Baines, St Helens North MP is hosting a roundtable event in St Helens North to hear from Dads and carers about the current state of paternity leave. 

The Labour government has launched a review of parental leave as a whole, and is asking for views before 25th August. As a long-time supporter of improvements in paternity leave in particular and men’s mental health in general, I am especially keen to make sure the voices of Dads everywhere are heard.

TheGivingMachine - Funding

TheGivingMachine run a small grants programme, offering £250 unrestricted grants each quarter to causes with under £1m turnover.

Each quarter they have 8 unrestricted grants worth £250 each to give away.

Any eligible good cause based in the UK can apply. They define good causes as any charity, school, CASC, CIC, or other organisation that is non-profit.

Chrysalis Summer Fun Day - Tuesday 19th August

Chrysalis are holding their Summer Fun day on Tuesday 19th August on the 1st Floor Beacon Building, College Street, St Helens, WA10 1TF from 11am to 3pm.

There will be Tombola, Games and Prizes, Face Painting, Shopping and Refreshments so classic fun for everyone. 

Adults 50p entry and kids are free!

Public Urged To Use NHS 111 Ahead Of Doctor Strikes

People across Cheshire and Merseyside are being urged to use NHS 111 for all non-emergency healthcare needs ahead of industrial action by resident doctors (previously known as junior doctors).  

Unions have announced a full walkout of resident doctors from 7am on Friday 25 July to 7am on Wednesday 30 July. 

The NHS 111 service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Live Well helps residents and professionals find local health, wellbeing, care, and community services and other information. They are conducting this survey to better understand how the directory is currently being used, how well it meets your needs, and what improvements are needed.

Your feedback will help to develop a new directory of Liverpool services, which will be more accessible and user-friendly. Your insights will influence the development of the new directory.

Halton Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services

Halton Borough Council has launched a new survey aimed at gathering crucial feedback on the adult drug and alcohol treatment and recovery service provided by Change, Grow, Live (CGL). The initiative is a key part of the council's ongoing contract review process.

The brief survey, designed to take approximately five minutes, targets professionals who refer to, or collaborate with, CGL's services. Its primary purpose is to assess how effectively the service is performing and how well it integrates with other organisations within the community.

Have you heard about The Community Lottery – for local good causes?

Charities, community organisations, social business and community groups of all shapes and sizes can sign up, free of charge and get a slice of the ticket proceeds.

A generous 60% of the ticket proceeds from the the Community Lottery will go to charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups with the remainder being put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT.
