Halton Chamber Business Awards

We are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the Social Enterprise of the Year award at the Halton Chamber Business Awards in June.

This years shortlisted nominations have just been announced and include Halton Community Transport, Beacon Savings and Loans, Halton Haven Hospice, The Autism Wellbeing Project and Vibe UK.

We have a fantastic local sector in Halton and the awards will give us the chance to celebrate the role social businesses play in our Borough.

Halton Mental Health Alliance - 20th May 2025

Our next Halton Mental Health Alliance has been scheduled for Tuesday 20th May, 1pm at Halton & St Helens VCA, St Maries, Lugsdale Road, Widnes, WA8 6DB and will be an in person. meeting.

This meeting will focus on:

  • Election of Chair for the Alliance
  • Review and creation of kite-mark / standard - to be decided by the group
  • Initial Planning for Mental Health Conference in October 2025
  • Setting priorities for next meeting.
  • Setting dates for Marketplace events for 2025/26

Deaf Awareness Training - Free

Deaf Awareness Week is soon approaching: May 5th-11th May and Deafness Resource Centre are offering a FREE 2 hour Deaf Awareness Training course at Halton Sensory Service.

The training provides practical skills for working with D/deaf people, including how to communicate clearly, use visual cues effectively, and avoid common misunderstandings.

It also covers the importance of effective communication strategies—such as using plain English, maintaining eye contact, and being mindful of background noise.

The Autism Wellbeing Project CIC - May 2025 Newsletter

The Autism Wellbeing Project are a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting autistic adults in Halton and the surrounding areas, they have recently moved to their new office at The Business Hub, Simms Cross, Widnes.

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), their primary goal is to provide comprehensive support services tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Developing Culturally Sensitive and Accessible Services

The Tower Hamlets, Flourishing Communities HEDG project is a partnership between Tower Hamlets CVS, Women’s Inclusive Team, Limehouse project and Praxis to address the inequity experienced by global majority women and their sexual and reproductive health. 

The team have now developed a set of resources to help healthcare commissioners, providers and residents to co-create services that are culturally sensitive and accessible to diverse communities.

Hosted by Calm your mind, a campaign dedicated to improving men's mental health and wellbeing and reducing suicides, this event builds on last year's success to deepen discussions.

6 Week Basic BSL Course - Halton

Halton Sensory Service are offering a 6 Week Basic BSL Course for anyone who wants to develop this wonderful communication language.

Whether you support Deaf or Hard of Hearing people or just want to develop your personal skills, this is a fantastic 6 hour course (£35 per person).

Starting 3rd June. 5:30pm-6:3opm and based at the Halton Sensory Service office.

Volunteer Awards 2025 

It’s Volunteer Awards time again and this year we’ve a few exciting changes for you. We’ve revamped the Award Categories AND we’re bringing the Awards Evening in line with National Volunteers’ Week 2025. ALL nomination categories are open to ALL Ages – so take it all – keep up with our socials too as we build up to the main event on Friday 6th June 2025 – this year being held at the Totally Wicked Stadium, St Helens.

Nominations close at noon on Monday 19th May 2025...

Have you heard about The Community Lottery – for local good causes?

Charities, community organisations, social business and community groups of all shapes and sizes can sign up, free of charge and get a slice of the ticket proceeds.

A generous 60% of the ticket proceeds from the the Community Lottery will go to charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups with the remainder being put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT.
