Race Equality Hub - Third Sector Diversity Project - Closes 13 March

This commission seeks to develop and deliver a programme of appropriate support for Third Sector Organisations operating in the Liverpool City Region to enable them to evidence their commitment to race equality and anti-racist practice. The programme will be developed and delivered in partnership with VS6.

The commission is linked to all aspects of the REH programme and seeks an exploration and development activity to improve race equality and develop anti-racist practice across all of its strands, with a particular focus on employability, leadership and business/organisational development, as it relates to the Voluntary, Community and Faith sector across the LCR.

Parr Community Fund

We would love to let you know about the upcoming community grant scheme as part of the Cradle to Career programme for Parr.

The fund's aim is to give residents the opportunity, funding and support to bring one of their ideas to life.

Any resident of Parr can apply for a grant of up to £2000 to improve theirs and their neighbours community. Support will be given to applicants from local organisations and successful projects will be chosen by a panel of local residents.

Applications open in March with projects to begin in April.

Free Health & Wellbeing Training for VCFSE Organisations in St Helens

An opportunity for VCFSE organisations to access training on the complexities associated with weight and health will be available as a two-hour, face-to-face course for VCFSE organisations based in St Helens. The course has been developed by public health nutrition experts at Food Active and is being delivered in partnership with Halton & St Helens VCA.

Halton VCSE Response Meeting - 12th March 2025

The next Halton VCSE Response meeting will be on Wednesday 12th March 2025 at 9.30am. The meeting will be held at Halton & St Helens VCA, St Maries, Lugsdale Road, Widnes, WA8 6DB. We will hear from some new friends, have plenty of time to engage and update one another on projects and activities, as well as touching base with the local Council and NHS organisations

Community Centre Managers Network Meeting

It's Back! Community Centre Managers Network Meeting, in person and online Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, The Beacon, College Street, St.Helens 1.00pm until 3.00pm. 

We will meet at a slightly later time than previous meetings, from 1pm until 3pm in the meeting room on the second floor at the Beacon building.

Those of you who have attended previously will understand the value of being able to share information, ask questions, and learn about new developments that relate to the work you are doing.

LCR Anti Racism Strategy

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is working with communities, partners, and stakeholders across the LCR to develop an Anti-Racism Strategy. This work is being led by the LCR Race Equality Hub and is in response to the racist and Islamophobic riots that happened last summer following the tragic murders of three children in Southport. 

The intention is to create a strategy that talks about the principles, behaviours and actions required for the LCR to show that it is committed to fighting racism and enabling all community members to have access to opportunities and outcomes across all areas of life.

They are holding a meeting scheduled for Thursday 20th March 2025, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Liverpool Quaker Meeting House or via Teams.

NWAS Ambulance Awareness Day

North West Ambulance Service is holding a FREE community engagement event with interactive talks on their services, information on careers, lifesaving skills and much more.

The event is taking place on Thursday 03 April 2025, 11:00 – 15:00 at Devonshire House, 293-297 Edge Lane, Fairfield, Liverpool, L7 9LD.

While the event format is tailored to young people and learning disability groups, all members of the public within the Merseyside area are welcome to come along and get involved.

Community Cervical Screening Events
Widnes

The mobile screening service will be at Upton Community Centre, Widnes on Thursday 13th March, 10:30- 16:00

Visit the Living Well Service bus to access a private and discreet cervical screening test at a time that suits you.

No appointment necessary, just drop in.

St Helens

St Helens Public Health team would like to remind partners that the final free cervical screening service will be outside Chester Lane Library on 17th March,10.30am-4pm.

This is a walk-in clinic with no appointment required for women to have their cervical screening.

Have you heard about The Community Lottery – for local good causes?

Charities, community organisations, social business and community groups of all shapes and sizes can sign up, free of charge and get a slice of the ticket proceeds.

A generous 60% of the ticket proceeds from the the Community Lottery will go to charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups with the remainder being put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT.
