The VS6 Partnership are pleased to announce the launch of the Liverpool City Region Volunteering Hub website, the central place for all volunteering needs across the city region.

The hub revolutionises volunteering by supporting the co-ordination and management of volunteering across all six Liverpool City Region (LCR) boroughs into one platform providing wider promotion of opportunities and a shared database of registered volunteers looking to give their time to our LCR communities.

Organisations can register on the hub’s website to promote their volunteering opportunities for free and access a pool of volunteers across LCR. 

‘Building Foundations’ is a programme that is looking to improve mental and physical health, through light exercise and group camaraderie. The programme is for both Men and Women, however, will be run in separate sessions running at the same time. 

 The first Cohort for ‘Building Foundations’ will start Monday 29th January.

The £25.5m VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme is now open to help voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in England improve their energy efficiency.

Applications for Halton Easter Holiday Activity & Food programme are now live. They would like to work together with a diverse range of children and young people’s activity providers, to offer positive activities and free lunches/evening dinners to our children and young people in Halton eligible for free school meals and others who are vulnerable.

They expect that all participating children and young people should benefit from a week of activities, which cover a minimum of 4 days between the 29th of March and the 14th April.

There’s a warm invitation to come to the Chain Lane Community Centre AGM (Annual General Meeting) on Thursday 1st February, 1.00pm at the Centre. You can attend either in person at the Centre or via ZOOM.

The consultation will run from Monday 15th January till Sunday 11th February.

Youth Fed are holding a free event to Celebrate the Chinese New Year, Year of the Dragon at Shopping City, Runcorn on Saturday 10th February, from 10 am. The event will include, Creative Dance Workshops, Traditional Lion Dance Workshops, arts and Crafts, Live Creative Dance Parade and Traditional Lion Dance Parade.

Are you lonely? Do you know or work with people who are lonely? Loneliness can have a terrible impact on a person's physical and mental health. 

Loneliness can profoundly impact one's health, with a 26% higher risk of mortality, equivalent to the health risks associated with smoking 15 cigarettes daily..

The HaltOnLoneliness study's objective is to chart the prevalence of loneliness throughout Halton, shedding light on the extent of this issue. The aim is to ensure that individuals affected by loneliness and social isolation receive timely and appropriate support from the right individuals, in the right place, and at the right time. 

2024 marks the 50th year of the Borough of Halton. In 1974 the two towns on Runcorn and Widnes, along with a number of surrounding villages, joined together to create the Borough of Halton. As part of the celebration of Halton turning 50, Halton Borough Council is excited to announce two funding opportunities for community and cultural initiatives.

Grant 1 (open all year): Community Events/Activities:
To enable small community groups to join in with the celebrations, we are boosting our Community Development Grants to £750 for any activity that relates to the Halton 50th celebrations.

Grant 2: Cultural Grants:
Halton Borough Council is also partnering with the UKSPF (UK Shared Prosperity Fund) to launch Halton 50 Cultural Grants. These grants are specifically designed to support local cultural initiatives that contribute to Halton’s rich community. In addition we also hope to connect a number of community organisations with Cultural activities increasing engagement across the borough.

The grant is up to £3000, and any project needs to take place between 1st April 2024 and 31st December 2024. Applications are now open with a deadline of 9am Monday 19th February 2024, decisions will be made mid-March.
