St Helens Bourgh Council are hosting regular events to support Refugees and Asylum Seekers living in the borough to access community facilities with ease.

As part of these catch ups, they would like to; Create a database of community/voluntary groups and activities taking place, developing a community website. Support community/voluntary groups to make their sessions readily available for Refugees/Asylum Seekers. Keep you up to date with grants/funding for ongoing support

New ambulances, elective hubs, virtual wards and care transfer hubs are amongst the innovative measures in place to ensure patients in Cheshire and Merseyside receive the best possible NHS care this winter.

Preparations for winter are already well underway in the region following the publication earlier this year of the NHS Urgent and Emergency Care Recovery Plan, a blueprint drawn up to help recover urgent and emergency care services, reduce waiting times and improve patient experience.

Following that plan, services have been put in place across the region that will boost capacity and resilience and build on improvements in ambulance response times and Accident & Emergency (A&E) performance.

Wonder Arts (previously Citadel Arts Centre) is a children and families organisation operating exclusively in non-traditional spaces in the St Helens public realm. They are seeking a number of local, regional and nationally based Trustees with qualities, skills and experience.

They are committed to broadening the diversity of their Board of Trustees. All applications are welcome and they would particularly encourage people who identify as Global Majority, female, LGBTQ+, disabled, young people (under 26), Neuro-Diverse and people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to apply.

The Big Conversation is about everyone living in Halton being a part of shaping what the future of the borough looks like. It’s about starting to talk about how, together, we can make Halton an even better place for people to live, work, visit and grow. It includes discussing what Halton Borough Council could do with the money that it has available, what we can do together as a community and what each of us may be able to do in our day to day lives, to make a difference.

The opinions and ideas gathered will be used to help shape the Council’s new Corporate Plan. This Corporate Plan is an important document because it will set out the details of what the Council will prioritise over the next five years to achieve the things we have agreed, from our Big Conversation, are important.

Halton Borough Council is delighted to announce that it has secured additional Government Funding from the Department of Education to enable local providers to offer FREE activities during the winter holiday period to school aged children from Reception to Year 11, who receive benefits-related to free school meals.

There are also a number of places available to other vulnerable groups of children and young people, such as SEND up to 18yrs, Young Carers, NEET.

Wonder Arts are thrilled to announce the enchanting Christmas show, "Twinkle Twinkle”; a heart-warming adventure, made especially for very young audiences. .

To present this enchanting treat, the St Helens based charity will be taking over an empty retail unit in Church Square Shopping Centre. The Ping Pong Parlour, located by the entrance of St Mary’s Market, will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland on 9th & 10th December, bringing festive, family fun right into the heart of the Town Centre.

The Young Gamechangers Fund is a £4.5m partnership between the Co-op Foundation, Co-op and the #iwill Fund that's putting young people in charge of change. They’re looking for young activists, campaigners, disrupters, co-operators, and social entrepreneurs to lead youth-led social action across the UK.

They will prioritise support for young activists who are committed to creating communities that are prosperous, safe, diverse, equitable and inclusive, healthy, and sustainable. In particular they’re seeking to support groups and communities that prioritise youth activism and shared power.

Applications must be complete and submitted by noon on 19 December 2023 to be considered for funding.

St Helens Council would like to invite you and your service members to attend their Survivors Forum relaunch event. 

This event will be attended by various partner agencies, making it a great opportunity for networking and collaboration. If you have any leaflets or promotional materials for your service, please bring them along to share with others.

The event aims to showcase the incredible work of survivors and provide a platform for them to connect with like-minded individuals. 

It will be held on Thursday, 7th December from 4-6 pm at the town hall. 

Food will be provided by Plan Bee cafe.
