The launch of a new Volunteering website across the Liverpool City Region will link organisations looking for volunteers with people who want to help their local communities at the end of Volunteers Week 2023.

The regions Volunteer Centres who work across Halton, St Helens, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral have partnered together so that organisations across can collaborate, share volunteers, and promote various volunteering opportunities, significantly amplifying the region's community impact.

The TeamKinetic powered website was first introduced in Halton & St Helens through the COVID19 pandemic to connect local people who needed help with those that wanted to support with simple tasks. The success of this and the following years has brought investment from the Combined Authority to support that one stop place for residents to make a difference in their local communities.

Resident groups across Merseyside are being invited to bid for a vital cash grant to increase safety and security in their neighbourhoods, while helping to boost community spirit, thanks to a new fund from the Police Commissioner.

Emily Spurrell has launched the Neighbourhood Resilience Fund offering grants of up to £1,000 to help foster and maintain more resilient, safe and caring communities across Merseyside.

Grants will be allocated to initiatives which help to prevent crime, including burglary and robberies and reduce anti-social behaviour, as well as campaigns which encourage residents to report suspicious activities to the police or encourage safer driving.

Groups can also use the funding to deliver practical crime reduction projects. This might involve action to ‘mark’ property to make it harder to steal, cooperating with neighbours to keep an eye on empty homes or creating a community in which young people are diverted away from crime.

The National Lottery Community Fund has shared their bold new strategy to 2030 – "It starts with community."

As the UK’s largest community funder, they’ve listened to 18,000 people and organisations to understand where their funding can make the biggest impact to strengthen society and improve lives.

They will distribute at least £4 billion of NationalLottery funding by 2030 to tackle the big issues facing the UK today and focus their funding, learning and efforts on four community-led missions.

They will support communities to: come together; be environmentally sustainable; help children and young people to thrive; and enable people to live healthier lives.

They will also make funding available for new ideas that support their missions this year – £15 million for a new programme to connect communities, opening later this summer and a £9 million boost to their Climate Action Fund, taking the total investment in Climate Action to £35 million this year.
