Grants Available From Citizens Advice Halton

CAB are pleased to announce that there is Winter Grant fuel funding available for Halton families and vulnerable persons from Halton Borough Council.  The Council is working with the Fuel Bank Foundation and Citizens Advice Halton to offer grants of £49 to help families who need support with their fuel bills.  There is funding for families, individuals and adults. To be eligible for the grant the person must have a pre-payment meter installed at the property and be willing to share their contact details with Citizens Advice Halton...


St Helens Borough Local Plan Main Modifications Consultation

The new Local Plan will set out how much new development for housing, employment and other uses should take place in the Borough, where this development should take place and policies to be taken account of when assessing planning applications. Once adopted, the Local Plan will be used to guide development in the Borough. The Inspectors have now considered all the evidence put before them (both written and verbal) from all interested parties. As a consequence, the Inspectors have identified a number of Main Modifications to be made to the Local Plan Submission Draft in order for it to be found ‘sound’ in accordance with national policy. The relevant consultation documents include the Proposed Main Modifications Schedule, the Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulation Assessment of the proposed Main Modifications, along with the St Helens Borough Local Plan Submission Draft 2020-2035 and the associated Policies Map. The UK Commission on Bereavement is reviewing the support offered to bereaved people in the UK, and how this could be improved. The Commission has launched a call for evidence from individuals and organisations. There is a  final push to get everyone (organisations, healthcare professionals and bereaved families) who works in bereavement or who has been bereaved to complete the survey as the results will be submitted to the government and hopefully more monies will be invested in bereavement services. St Helens Borough Council Christmas Gift Appeal 2021 

Kind-hearted residents, businesses and organisations are being asked to come together to help make Christmas extra special for some of the borough’s most disadvantaged children and young people. Since 2010, St Helens Borough Council has run a gift appeal for children aged from birth to 21 years at risk of waking up on Christmas Day without a present. During that time, tens of thousands of items have been donated, with last year’s appeal alone resulting in gifts being shared out between more than 630 children and young people - including care leavers.  Items such as new toys, books, clothing, gift vouchers, confectionery, toiletry gift sets and cash donations will be most welcome – but with a shortage of gifts last year for young people aged between 0-1 years and 8-14 years  it is asked that residents consider this age range when donating to the appeal.  The deadline for donations is Monday 13 December...

Barnardo’s Boloh Helpline is pleased to announce the expansion of their service to support the mental health and wellbeing of adult asylum seekers across the UK. This project is funded by the Home Office and is in addition to their current service that offers support to children, young people and their parents. The Helpline will offer advice, signposting, emotional support and 8 free sessions of therapy by qualified Barnardo’s therapists. These sessions can take place remotely via telephone or online.
