Healthy at Home Link Worker (Halton)

The Healthy at Home project will provide a complementary service to the current discharge pathway within Warrington and Halton Hospital Foundation Trust (WHHFT). It will enhance the current provision within the hospital and create effective and long-lasting links with the Community and Voluntary Sector (VCS).  The post holder will be one of 2 Link Workers integrated within the hospital’s Discharge Team, providing a triage service to volunteer support and local VCS connections. The project will bring the expertise and knowledge of the VCS to the discharge process across 2 ‘places’ – Warrington and Halton...

Knowsley Disability Concern (KDC) delivers learning and development activities for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to improve their confidence, learn new skills and gain the ability to achieve greater independence. Managaing my Money is an established and popular programme of 2 hour sessions proviuded in community settings aimed at helping people improve their ability to managae money. The course covers topics such as recognising the value of different coins and notes, how to spend safely, budgeting, saving and operating bank accounts. KDC have a Vacancy for a Coordinator to deliver their Managing my Money course to small groups of adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, with support from a learning assistant. Street Crew and Contemporary Team Dance Try Outs / Open Evenings

Watch This Space are a local dance group based in St Helens Town Centre for 13 years,  due to the struggling times of the last year they are in need of your help to get the word out. They have upcoming Street Crew and Contemporary Team Open Evenings / Try Outs for a wide range of ages, and Mini Movers too. Street Crews and Contemporary Competition Teams will work towards various Regional and National competitions throughout the year (and even International / World championships too for some of our Crews / Teams with the chance to be part of Team England). Come and be a part of our dance family. Try Out Evenings on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th September. They also have space in their Mini Movers’ classes and Lil Divas from ages 3 – 9 years (there is no try out evening for these ages groups). All ages and abilities are welcome...


Medaille Trust - Halton Vacancies

The Medaille Trust is one of the largest specialist providers of safe house beds for victims of modern slavery in the UK. Founded in 2006 by a number of religious congregations in response to the plight of thousands of people who are being trafficked into the UK each year, it opened its first safe house in January 2007. Halton Council - Holiday Activity with Food (HAF)

Exciting news! Halton Council are planning to deliver their very own version of HAF throughout the October and February half term holidays. They are working in partnership with some private sector organisations to provide food over the October and February half term breaks to make sure our children don’t go hungry over the holiday periods. There is a great need for tackling holiday hunger during October and February half term when there is no official HAF funding available from the DFE. Also there will be a reduction in Universal Credit, Furlough is also winding down and there is no commitment from national government for free school meal vouchers during these school holidays.  Halton Council want to link up with those providers who are planning on putting on activities within the half term holidays to support feeding their young people...

 Amparo – Listening Ear’s Support After Suicide Service

Amparo – Listening Ear’s support after suicide service – has now arranged further Zoom briefing sessions to outline the support it offers and how referrals can be made.  These are aimed at professionals who may be in a position to refer clients for support, and have already been attended by over 700 people this year. 


Halton Foundation - Grants Programme

The Halton Foundation - Grants Programme is now open for applications with a closing date of 8 November 2021.This grants programme now incorporates all of the funds, which were transferred over to the Community Foundation and come under the umbrella of the Halton Foundation, as well as the original Knights House Foundation (which only covers the Widnes area).  The main focus is on relieving hardship and poverty so is targeting disadvantaged people in real need.  The funding can support individuals as well as groups. The Halton Foundation was launched in February 2016 and aims to forge links between local community groups and individuals who need help, with local businesses who may be able to provide it. The partnership is led by Halton Chamber of Commerce, Halton Borough Council and Halton and St Helen’s Voluntary and Community Action (VCA).  The Halton Foundation’s grant making arm is administered by the Community Foundation for Merseyside.  The Halton Foundation comprises a number of funds under its umbrella including dormant funds, the largest of which is the Knights House Charity, which was originally established in February 1875...

Mind St Helens - Newsletter and Update

As our community slowly regains some normality, the St.Helens Mind team is making plans for resuming their services. Thankfully, they were able to change their Befriending Service to telephone befriending at the very start of the pandemic and continued to welcome new  volunteers and referrals for people who were in need of regular one to one support. However, since early 2020, they  were required to close the majority of their services, as they use public buildings for groups and activities and these were closed due to the pandemic. This meant they no longer had our art group, social groups, choir, music group, reading for wellbeing, ladies craft group, and for a while, the allotment. As restrictions in social isolating changed they  managed to open the allotment and secure some funding to run the Men’s Group. The ladies active group resumed their visits to their small garden in Victoria Park and met for walks and craft classes...
