This information has been kindly provided by Paul McCann at Sefton Council. The videos explain the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, have been filmed in alternative languages and shared by Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. IT Equipment Donations For Children Without Access To Remote Learning

In response to the current national lockdown, primary schools, secondary schools and colleges must once again close to most children and young people and move to remote learning. Byte Charity and The Hope Centre, supported by St Helens Council, are working in partnership to deliver a project which focuses on getting young people the equipment and connectivity they need to be able to learn. Byte are a local charity founded by James Long and his wife Emma, in response to the digital barriers faced by many school pupils who do not have the necessary access to technology. St Helens Council are asking anyone with such surplus equipment that meets the specification  to consider kindly donating it. Donated equipment will be distributed by our schools, who know best where it is sorely needed, enabling local young people to continue with their education remotely...

We can all honestly say that 2020 was an incredibly challenging and difficult year.  One which continues into 2021 and will likely have an impact in the coming years, particularly on our mental health. Here at Halton & St Helens VCA we want to showcase all the amazing work our sector is doing to help those in our communities with mental health and wellbeing, recognising that for some people there are services available before someone needs crisis intervention. We want this directory to be useful to not only other providers and partners but to the public who may just need to know what help is out there. So here is your CALL to ACTION…


UK Disability Survey

The Cabinet Office Disability Unit has launched the UK Disability Survey. They want to hear from as many people as possible. They are particularly keen to hear from disabled people, their carers, friends and family; but views from the wider public are also very welcome. The survey will remain open until 23 April. All views will be used to shape the delivery of the plans set out in the forthcoming Strategy, with those that are received by 13 February informing the development of the Strategy...


Free Meals For Isolated Older People

Apex Charitable Trust / Plan Bee Community Coffee shop have successfully secured funding from Torus Foundation and Asda Foundation to deliver a new project which offers free meals to isolated older people in St Helens. The meals include a main such as hotpot or shepherd’s pie, a dessert and a drink and will be delivered free of charge. The only criteria is the person receiving the meal must be over 60- years of age, have difficulty getting out the house and be experiencing financial difficulty...

VS6 Sustainable and Affordable Food Assembly Report

In October last year the VS6 Partnership organised and hosted the Sustainable and Affordable Food Assembly in partnership with Together Liverpool as part of a series of assembly events with the VCFSE sector.  The assembly was an opportunity to start to think strategically about how we might develop a sustainable and affordable food plan for the region, and to think beyond emergency provision towards what individuals, organisations and governance can do to make real social change happen.  They are therefore pleased to introduce to you the latest VS6 Assembly Report (see attached) summarising the feedback from the Sustainable and Affordable Food Assembly which provides “the first steps toward a vision for a sustainable and affordable food plan for the Liverpool City Region”...
