VCA Trustee Network - Review of First Meeting

Last week Halton & St Helens VCA held our first ever VCA Trustee Network meeting. Cheshire Anti-Bullying Commission

Cheshire Anti-Bullying Commission has published its phase one report which looks into bullying among under 25s in Cheshire. The report details recommendations for education establishments, local authorities, Cheshire Police and all other workplaces across Cheshire to come together to eradicate bullying in our society. One of the recommendations was to develop a Cheshire-wide approach to tackling bullying and as part of this, they have developed Cheshire’s first ever county-wide Anti-Bullying Charter for all organisations in Cheshire to sign to show their commitment to challenging bullying...


Youthquake

Youthquake, an 18-week long traineeship starting in January for young people from the Liverpool City Region who are not in education, employment or training.  Participants will find out first-hand what it’s like to plan and run a business.  They’ll work in groups and their your own to come up with a unique proposal for a business, looking at products, branding, websites, ethics, audiences, and more!  As part of the programme they’ll hear inspirational talks from local business leaders, go on site visits, and get real work experience with an 8-week placement. There are 20 places available and the registration process ends on 4th December...

Charity Commission & UK Finance Anti-Fraud Resources For Charities

Following Charity Fraud Awareness Week (19-23 October), the Charity Commission and UK Finance have published a suite of resources to support charities to protect themselves from fraud during the pandemic. They are warning trustees and donors to strengthen their defences as it fears the pandemic has created environments that are enabling charity fraud. Charities have reported being victims of fraud or cybercrime 645 times since the start of the pandemic in March, amounting to £3.6 million in total losses to charities. The true scale of fraud against charities is believed to be much higher, as fraud is known to be underreported...
