Halton & St Helens VCFSE Programme of Support

With support from The National Lottery Community Fund we are pleased to be able to bring together, facilitate and deliver a broad  and ongoing programme of support that  with the current situation in operating during such difficult and unprecedented times  aims to support staff, volunteers and trustees in the following areas of: Response, Redesign, Recovery and Resilience.  Our current training programe includes, Creating an Opportunity – Volunteering Portal Workshop, Designing and Facilitating Engaging Online Meetings & Events using ZOOM, Setting Up a CIC and other Legal Structures, Strategies to Help You Cope, Preparing To Bring Back Your Volunteers, Leading Under Pressure, Negotiating Your Lease Successfully in a Covid World, Managing Change and Using and exploring the Volunteer Portal....


Free PPE Supplies to Support VCFSE Organisations Across the Liverpool City Region

We are delighted to announce that, as a joint CVS initiative, we have obtained hundreds of PPE supplies to support Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) organisations across the Liverpool City Region.  On the 21st September, Livv Housing Group kindly supported the CVS network in Merseyside with VS6 by helping deliver key PPE products to their various sites. This PPE will allow VCFSE organisations to remain open and will play a really important role in supporting residents to receive the support that they need locally...


Trustee Forum Meeting for VCFSE Groups in Halton & St Helens

Halton & St Helens VCA are delighted to be launching an online meeting for Trustees or Directors of VCFSE organisations in Halton and St Helens. The meetings will afford attendees with the opportunity to share best practice and discuss concerns, as we all attempt to adapt our services in this ever changing climate of new rules and regulations. Ashraf Hamido From Local VCFSE Group “A Better Tomorrow” Receives BEM

The staff and Trustees of Halton & St Helens VCA were thrilled to hear that on October 10th, Ashraf Hamido, star of A Better Tomorrow (and official Halton Voluntary Sector Legend) has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM). Ashraf only arrived in the UK 6 years ago, but having learnt English and become familiar with British culture, he has dedicated himself to helping others integrate into our community. Over the past 6 years Ashraf has worked & volunteered with and for several organisation including Umbrella Halton, Plus Dane and ROC, before somehow finding the time to set up his organisation, A Better Tomorrow...


Free wellbeing Packs for Citizens of the Liverpool City Region

Wellbeing Enterprises are delighted to give away 1500 free wellbeing packs* to people living and working in the Liverpool City Region. The packs include activities and games which aim to boost wellbeing levels during the Covid-19 outbreak. This initiative is being funded by the National Lottery Coronavirus Community Support Fund. In conjunction with Black History Month, the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership is hosting a number of learning and development webinars for partners across Cheshire and Merseyside. Pi CiC Weekly Virtual Hangouts

Pi CiC (Persona Insight CIC) understand the genuine need for inclusion amongst their beneficiaries in these unprecedented times. The sense of belonging has hit a bump in the road, that said, they have been working extremely hard collectively to stay connected and thankfully, Pi CiC have strengthened their resolve. Covid19 has seen Pi adapt how they can safely deliver their services, to those individuals who have been attending the community centre based drop-in sessions for over 12 months. Since March 2020, they have not all been together in one place at one time, some of their vulnerable beneficiaries are too scared to return. By introducing Telephone Companionships, in which volunteer Peers Mentors provide a much needed listening ear, a go too in hard times and their newly joined members, have been connected to new friends within the organisation. WhatsApp Chat Rooms have been a great way to communicate quickly...

Evolving Mindset

Evolving Mindset is a mental health Community Interest Company (CIC) established in 2019 for helping the community in Merseyside with mental health issues. As a not-for-profit CIC, they offer FREE mental health assistance to those individuals and families for anyone who needs it, as well as mental health programmes for schools and businesses. Their programmes are designed to engage, educate and empower participants, by focusing on their mental well-being. iCAN Information: New 'Stop Loan Sharks' App Launches

The National Illegal Money Lending Team has launched a new app called 'Stop Loan Sharks', which can be downloaded for free on the App Store and Google Play. The app is aimed at anyone who may be a victim of illegal money lending, or concerned about someone they know, whether friends, family or neighbours.  It includes a contact form and phone number to report loan sharks, as well as information to help victims of illegal money lending to get support.  The app featuring animation designed by Halton Borough Council’s Trading Standards Officers, aims to simplify reporting of illegal lenders and funded by the loan sharks themselves - via assets seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act...

Free Carbon Monoxide Awareness Workshops

The Gas Safe Charity is offering free, online workshops to raise awareness of carbon monoxide risks aimed at frontline staff and volunteers who visit or work in the homes of vulnerable people. You may not really have thought about carbon monoxide risks in your day to day work, both to your client and to you. This online workshop is aimed at front line staff from social care, NHS, voluntary and private sectors working in the UK. New Network for LCR Residents Aged 55 and Over

Metro Mayor Announces New Network for LCR Residents Aged 55 and Over. Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, has announced the establishment of the new network for Liverpool City Region residents aged 55 and above, which will help shape the policies that affect their future. Network 55+ is open to anyone living in the Liverpool City Region aged 55 and over.  The network will operate primarily online, through surveys, webinars and other online meetings, and is working closely with local community groups to ensure those without internet access can get involved. The Liverpool City Region recently joined the UK Network of Age-friendly Communities, made up of cities, towns and counties working together to share learning and examples of age-friendly practices. Seeing Equalities Through a BAME lens  - VCFSE Sector Assembly - Final Report 

Following on from the “Seeing Inequalities through a BAME lens” VCFSE Assemblies, VS6 are pleased to publish four key recommended action areas  based on feedback from this event. The Seeing Inequalities through a BAME lens VCFSE Assemblies was attended by representatives from over 80 organisations from across the Liverpool City Region over two dates in July. Further events have been held regarding Mental Health, Shielding and Vulnerable People and Children & Young People. The recommendations from all the Assembly Events will then be collated into final report for circulation and evidence towards the debate of how the Liverpool City Region can Build Back Better...
