Community Impact Fund - Closes Friday 6th March The LCVS Community Impact Fund helps voluntary sector organisations and registered charities do even more to build stronger communities across Merseyside. The current round of funding will close on Friday 6 March 2020, so get your application in now. Eligible organisations can apply for grants of up to £3,000 for projects that meet one or more of the fund’s four main priority areas: Health; Education; Income stability; Arts and culture. Applications are assessed on the impact that the project will have on the lives of those who benefit... Commissioner Seeking Victim Feedback Have you been a victim of crime in Cheshire? If so, Cheshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner wants your views on the support you received from Cheshire police and other support services. It is part of a full victim needs assessment PCC David Keane is carrying out in order to improve victim support services across Cheshire... Consultation – Proposed Changes to the Electoral Cycle of St Helens Council A consultation on whether to move to electing all ward councillors once every four years is now taking place. Currently one third of St Helens Council ward councillors are elected each year, one from each ward, in a three out of every four-year cycle. But the public could choose to instead opt to have one election to select all the ward councillors at the same time. The next ward councillor elections would then take place four years later after all councillors have served their four-year term. The consultation will run from Friday, February 28 to Monday 23rd March... Coronavirus: Advice For Employers And Employees Acas have released new and updated guidance for employers and employees. This includes guidance on handling coronavirus at work. In case coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads more widely in the UK, employers should consider some simple steps to help protect the health and safety of staff.... St Helens VCSE Forum - 23rd March 2020 The next St Helens VCSE Forum meeting will be on Monday 23rd March at 10am to 12 noon at the Beacon Building, College Street, St Helens. We are bringing key partners together to connect with the sector to provide and share key developments on St Helens Cares and we will update on key work and initiatives in St Helens. Halton VCSE Forum 20th April 2020 Halton and St Helens VCA have established the Halton VCSE Forum to bring together key partners to connect with the sector to provide and share key developments on One Halton and we will also update on key work and initiatives in Halton. The next meeting is on Monday 20th April 2020 at our Widnes office on Lugsdale Road, Widnes from 10am to 12 noon... Marmot Review: 10 years On - Report From NAVCA NAVCA, have a produced a new blog about "Marmot Review: 10 Years on". To mark the 10-year anniversary of the landmark study of health inequalities, Fair Society, Healthy Lives, the UCL Institute of Health Equity (IHE) has launched Health Equity in England: The Marmot Review 10 Years On, commissioned by the Health Foundation. The report examines progress over the past decade in addressing health inequalities in England and proposes recommendations for future action. The report also looks at the social determinants of health through policy areas outside the traditional 'health and social care' sector, including early years and education, work and income, housing, places and communities... Ashley High School in Widnes are seeking volunteering opportunities for a small group of 6th Form students with High Functioning Autism and Social Communication Difficulties. They are available on Wednesday mornings in June and July and looking forward to finding about any opportunities that they could become involved with. There will be 5 students and they will be supported by 2 members of staff... Volunteering Opportunities at Age UK Mid Mersey Age UK Mid Mersey have a number of volunteer roles that they are seeking support with at their Mansion House site in St Helens. The are looking for Hopsitialities Assistants, receptionist and group helpers.... Every Friday between 12 noon and 3pm at our Widnes office... Information about the voluntary, community, charitable sector still remains one of the key issues raised by professionals and clinicians when you ask the question “What could the voluntary sector do?” or “How can I refer this person to something more appropriate?” As the gateway into the sector, Halton & St Helens VCA holds lots of information and data about local voluntary action. We have produced that in great detail, in “Here to Help”, provided a search facility on our website, share information with key organisations and have many different ways of sharing what groups do, but still people say they don’t know what groups exist, what they do and how they get to them or refer to them. So Halton & St Helens VCA has been working on an extension to our database which will display information about groups in an easy format, tell you what they do and when, allow clinicians and other key professionals to log-in directly and make a referral directly to the group (as long as they have agreed to receive referrals). This means for the first time there will be a single place where referrals to the local voluntary and community sector can be made.
