Bloomin’ Marvellous Plant Sale For Hospice Hundreds of plants, flowers and hanging baskets will be on offer at Willowbrook Hospice’s plant sale on Saturday 13 May, 9.30am-4pm at Willowbrook-The Living Well, Borough Rd, St Helens. Hospice Gardener, Juliet McLorie says, “Whether you’re passionate about gardening or just need to pick up some plants to fill a flowerbed or window, this is the ideal opportunity to sort out your garden for summer. From bedding plants and trailing flowers, to larger shrubs, herbs, grasses and cacti, there’ll be something for everyone... Funding Bulletins from Halton Borough Council - May Our colleagues from Halton Borough Council’s External Funding Team have prepared some Funding Bulletins containing valuable information for voluntary organisations looking for grants to get projects off the ground. The Monthly funding bulletins offering information on funding opportunities in the following areas: Arts, Community & Voluntary, Environment & Heritage, European, Faith, Health, Schools, Sports and Youth... Dying Matters Awareness Week 2017 Members of the local community are invited to come along to an open event at Willowbrook-The Living Well on Tuesday 9 May (10am-3pm) to find out more about what they can do to plan for their future, the future of their loved ones and those in their local community. The ‘drop in’ event is supported by organisations such as Citizens Advice Bureau, Macmillan, Alzheimer’s Society, Willowbrook Hospice, Halton Haven Hospice and St Helens and Knowsley Carers Centre all of whom will be on hand to offer free information, advice and guidance on issues such as Lasting Power of Attorney, Advance Directives, bereavement, advance care planning, money matters and much more! The theme of Dying Matters Awareness Week 2017 is ‘What Can You Do?’ which aims to get people more active in planning for dying and death and helping support those who may need it in times of grief and bereavement, be they friends, family or in the wider community... Halton Carers Centre to hold Tea Dance Fundraiser Halton Carers Centre are holding a fundraising tea dance at Churchill Hall, Runcorn from 2.00pm - 4.00pm on Thursday 25th May. This will be a fun afternoon learning new dance routines by talented teacher Allan Greggory and is open to all carers, the person they care for, and family and friends. Tickets are £5 each and this will include tea/coffee and selection of cakes... Apex Secures New Funding for Halton Apex has currently secured funding to work with any woman who has had any dealings with the Criminal Justice System and lives in the Halton area. Apex works with women on a one to one basis helping them to overcome their barriers to securing employment. They also look at avenues to secure voluntary work or training. Apex's unique selling point is that they can offer specialised advice surrounding the legal aspects of their conviction and how best to disclose to an employer. It is crucial for their clients that employers are carrying out the right checks and that clients know if their conviction is spent or unspent. They work closely with clients understanding all the barriers that women face when it comes to gaining employment and look for solutions to help them make better life choices... Nightstop Communities Sleepover Event NCNW are holding their annual Sleepover event at St Pauls Church and are inviting all agencies working with Homeless people, Mental health and young people to come and promote their services at the event to raise awareness of these issues and the challenges that some people face on a daily basis.They are also this year promoting people to sleep out in tents as well as inside at the event and asking for people to get sponsorship for the event to stay the night. All sponsorship and monies raised will go into providing free Mental health services to young people, their families and the wider community... New ‘Include-IT Mersey’ Project Aims To Get People Online Include-IT Mersey is a new project, jointly funded by the European Social Fund and the Big Lottery Fund as part of its 2014-2020 Building Better Opportunities Programme. The project will provide a personalised package of support to digitally excluded residents of the Liverpool City Region that are out of work to help improve their IT and online skills, confidence in using and practical access to digital technologies and, ultimately, support them towards and into employment. The project will be delivered by a partnership of 23* not-for-profit and public sector partners spanning the six boroughs of Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens, Halton and Wirral, with specific target areas in each borough. Led by Sefton CVS, in collaboration with VOLA Consortium members, local Housing Associations and Local Authorities, this innovative multi-agency partnership is founded on partners that really care about their local communities... Mamafit; an award winning exercise & lifestyle scheme for pregnant women & mums which supports women to be active and healthy during pregnancy and into the early stages of motherhood. It has been running in partnership with Liverpool City Council – Public Health & Liverpool Women’s NHS Trust at Children’s centres across Liverpool since 2011. Cheshire Victim Services Directory Halton & St Helens VCA, working with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire have compiled a directory and on-line resource for Victims Services in Cheshire in the voluntary and community sector. The directory is for anyone who has been affected by crime in Cheshire, the website will help to find the advice and support needed. This information is provided to anyone who may need support regardless of whether a crime has been reported or when it happened...
