Friends Against Scams - FREE Event For Professionals Working With Older/Vulnerable Adults

St Helens Council Trading Standards Service will be hosting a Friends Against Scams Event on 2nd May 2017, at Ruskin Drive, St Helens. Scams affect the lives of millions of people across the UK and cost the UK economy £5 to 10 billion per year.  Legally speaking, a scam is a FRAUD offence, but only 5% of these crimes are reported. The average age of a scams victim is 75, and 53% of those aged over 65 have been targeted. The stress and pain of victimisation often results in depression, withdrawal and isolation from family and friends and the deterioration of physical and mental health. People defrauded in their own homes are 2.5 times more likely to either die or go into residential care within a year...

New Parkinson's Cafe in Runcorn

The duathlon fundraising event is perfect for amateur athletes. The first run is 4km, followed by a 30km, bike ride, finishing with another 3km run. Charity Commission Updates Finance Guidance For Trustees – Civil Society News

The Charity Commission has updated its guidance for trustees about their financial duties to make it more accessible.  Trustees’ legal duties have not changed but the refreshed guidance aims to be “more accessible and readable”. Charity finances: trustee essentials (CC25) is the regulator’s overarching financial guidance and is intended to be the ‘go-to’ piece of guidance. In many places it links to the regulator’s more detailed guidance on certain issues.
