Grass-Roots Funding From Players Of People's Postcode Lottery Postcode Local Trust is currently inviting applications that encourage lasting benefits by bringing people together to improve local ecology and habitats, encourage bio-diversity and benefit the wider environment. Examples of eligible projects would include: community gardens and growing spaces; habitat creation/preservation; outdoor, wildlife and environmental education; the creation of new green spaces; outdoor and path access improvements; community energy initiatives (e.g. solar panels for community-owned/charity buildings, micro-hydro schemes etc.)... Draft Police and Crime Commissioner Plan 2016-21 The Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire David Keane consulting on the draft Police and & Crime Plan for 2016-21 which reflects the key priorities for policing in Cheshire. The plan can be found on our news item page, the deadline for comments is 31 October with the plan being finalised in December 2016... Charities/Community Groups Can Benefit From A Fantastic Free Resource Giving World offers charities access to business surplus for free. Charities and community groups can register to receive these goods free of charge. Giving World offers a simple solution for companies with surplus goods to dispose of. They register and publicise their goods for charities and community groups to access the items free of charge to pass onto their beneficiaries... Networking & News - 'Hate Crime Reporting in Cheshire' Join us for a time of networking and to find out more about Hate Crime Reporting in Cheshire. Chief Executive Vacancy At Chester Voluntary Action Chester Voluntary Action (CVA) was established in 1914 and is a voluntary sector infrastructure organisation that provides a wide range of capacity building support and development services for voluntary, community and faith organisations across Chester and surrounding areas around all aspects of running a successful voluntary sector organisation. After eighteen successful years with CVA including ten leading the organisation, the current Chief Executive has decided to move on and they are now seeking someone who can further develop and strengthen the organisation... NHS Halton CCG in partnership with Halton OPEN are holding two free events for members of the public in Halton. Held on Tuesday 18th October from 11.30am to 3pm at the Heath Conference Centre Runcorn and Thursday 20th October from 11.30am to 3pm at Saints Peter & Paul College Widnes, these free events will give out local health advice and information alongside an annual Tea Dance... Shaw Trust Work and Health Event Shaw Trust is national charity working to create brighter futures for the people and communities we serve. Over the coming months they will be finalising their approach to delivering the Work and Health Programme, the new DWP employment programme designed to support people on health related benefits and people who are long-term unemployed back in to sustainable work. They know that the best services need to be designed in partnership with local third-sector experts who already deliver services locally and who know what works and what doesn’t. They would therefore like to invite charities and voluntary sector organisations to a Work and Health Engagement Event... The High Sheriff's Award for Enterprise The High Sheriff’s Awards for Enterprise is Cheshire’s prime business awards event. The awards were introduced in 2006 by the then High Sheriff of Cheshire, David Briggs MBE KStJ, to recognise outstanding achievement by enterprises in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington. The benefits of entering the High Sheriff’s Awards for Enterprise extend far beyond winning one of the prestigious awards; they provide access to a network of support across Cheshire... Halton Clinical Commissioning Group are holding an event of activities on Monday 26th September from 1pm at Victoria Park, Birchfield Road, Widnes, WA8 7SU. There will be taster activities aimed at improving your wellbeing including Tai Chi, Tennis, Walking Rugby, Park bikes, Bowling, Pram fitness, Live music and much more. This will be followed by an AGM starting at 3pm... Welcome... We would like to welcome and introduce our new member of staff: Cole Toward. Cole has taken on the role of Tontine House receptionist. This is Cole’s first role in the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector, he is looking forward to learning about the sector and our partner/member organisations. He is the first point of contact for VCA and ensures that all telephone calls and also all visitors to the St Helens office, are directed to the correct project of the VCA team.
Don't Forget... We’d like you to take part in a major new survey of the voluntary sector in Merseyside and the rest of Northern England. Its purpose is to get a good understanding of the general wellbeing and mood of the sector and to see how it is preparing for the future in a period of significant social and economic change. The survey is being undertaken by the University of Durham, and is funded by IPPR and Garfield Weston Foundation. The survey only takes 15 minutes to complete and you won't need to check up any facts and figures to do it - hopefully you'll find it quite interesting too. Whether you are a large or small organisation or group, whether you are thriving, struggling or going along as normal we need you need to complete the survey so that a comprehensive picture can be built on how the voluntary sector is faring in Halton, St Helens and the North West area's more widely... Volunteer Recruitment Fair 2016 The fair will be a market place style event, for the most part, however, we would like to make the event as exciting and interactive as possible, so please feel free to be creative when considering how you might engage with the public. We would like to request that your stand is manned for the whole time so that the last visitor has as good an experience as the first one... Cheshire Victim Services Directory Halton & St Helens VCA, working with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire have compiled a directory and on-line resource for Victims Services in Cheshire in the voluntary and community sector. The directory is for anyone who has been affected by crime in Cheshire, the website will help to find the advice and support needed. This information is provided to anyone who may need support regardless of whether a crime has been reported or when it happened... Volunteer Co-ordinator/Managers Forum The Next Volunteer Managers/Co-ordinators Forum will be on Tuesday 27 September 11.30am-2pm, at St Marie's. The Forum meets six monthly to share information, discuss issues, monitoring and anything else to do with volunteering. The meetings are informal and enjoyable.
