ESF Community Grants - Merseyside & Halton

A £1m programme to tackle unemployment has been launched today with backing from the European Social Fund. The funds have been granted by the government’s Skills Funding Agency in partnership with Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership to the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA), an adult education charity which provides training and learning opportunities for people at risk of exclusion. Creamfields Revellers Urged To Protect Themselves From Measles

People heading to Creamfields later this month are being urged to make measles – and not just music – a priority. Warrington and Halton’s Public Health teams are advising all festival goers to ensure they are fully vaccinated against the disease before the music festival. Strong Start To Halton's Talent Search

The first auditions for Halton's Got Talent 2016 took place on Saturday at Runcorn Shopping Centre. In a full day of auditions, shoppers were entertained with some outstanding talent earning three 'golden buzzers' for places in the final. Singers Grace McDonald, aged 11, Beth Lambert, 19, and 16-year-old Rebecca McGuire wowed the four judges with their individual acts. A spokesperson for Halton Borough Council said that the first day of auditions showed the high standard of talent there is in Halton, with lots more to come. Further auditions will be held in Runcorn Shopping Centre on the next two Saturdays, 13 and 20 August, and in Widnes on Monday 15 August at CRMZs...

Goodbye's and Good Luck

Over the last couple of months we have sadly had to say goodbye to a number of long term, much loved staff.

Lyn Williams (Healthwatch Halton Manager), Lynn Smith (Quality Improvement and Training Co-ordinator) and Tina Standish (Receptionist) have all taken early retirement.

We have also said goodbye to Emma Rodriguez Dos Santos (Healthwatch St Helens Manager) who will very shortly be off on a new adventure and emigrating to New Zealand!

Everyone at VCA would like to thank Lyn, Lynn, Tina and Emma for all their hard work over the past years and wish them well in their new adventures.

Halton & St Helens VCA, working with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire have compiled a directory and on-line resource for Victims Services in Cheshire in the voluntary and community sector. The directory is for anyone who has been affected by crime in Cheshire, the website will help to find the advice and support needed. This information is provided to anyone who may need support regardless of whether a crime has been reported or when it happened...
