One Halton Re-Launched

8 July 2022

One Halton focused on getting the health and care ‘system’ working better for everyone

New ways of working designed to transform health and care services and reduce inequalities for the128,200 residents of Halton started 1st July

One Halton brings together NHS organisations, Halton Borough Council, GP practices and voluntary organisations to join up services, support the health and care of Halton’s community, share ideas and resources and tackle the borough’s biggest problems together.

Although One Halton has been working as a partnership for some time, these new arrangements are set out in law as part of changes happening across the country, marking a fundamental shift in how health and care services work together.

The changes will also see the establishment of 42 Integrated Care Systems (ICS) covering the country, with Halton being one of nine places covered by the NHS Cheshire and Merseyside ICS.

One Halton’s ambition is to prevent more people becoming unwell, keep people living longer and healthier lives in their own homes and make sure that the right services are in the right places for those who really need them.

Partners want to replicate what was achieved during the pandemic where organisational barriers and bureaucracy were removed and the health and care system worked as one.

Anthony Leo, Place Director for One Halton, said: “This is the single largest change to health and care in decades. Like other areas across the country, our health and care services face significant challenges with increasing demand, but by working as one, we can make the health system work better for our community

“We can’t afford to keep doing things the way we always have done. As One Halton we have a real opportunity to prevent more local people becoming unwell, keep people living longer and healthier lives in their own homes and make sure that the right services are in the right places for those who really need them.”

There will be opportunities for everyone in Halton to share their opinions, talk about how we can tackle issues together and to get involved in shaping how services are delivered.

A survey has been launched to capture the thoughts of local people on those things that are important to get the best start in life, to live well and to support us as we get older. The survey can be accessed on One Halton’s website: https://online1.snapsurveys.com/OneHaltonhealthandcare
