Pensions Auto-enrolment and Managing Change Seminar

Registration is closed for this event
This workshop is to find out more about new statutory duties to provide a pension scheme to employees and will also look at managing change in your organisation during challenging economic times.

This event is open to voluntary and community sector groups.

In October 2012, a new statutory obligation was placed on all employers to have a qualifying pension scheme, and to auto-enrol eligible workers. The duty is being progressively rolled out and you will soon start to receive details if you haven't already about your staging date, this is the date when the law comes into effect for your organisation.  This wil not be optional, all employers will have to offer something.  Both employer and worker will have to make compulsory financial contributions into the scheme.

The first half of this workshop will provide essential information for employers so that they are clear of their legal duties.  It is aimed at employers even if you have pension arrangements in place you will need to know if those arrangements meet auto-enrolment criteria.

The second half of the workshop will be a short session delivered by Catherine Lockett, a Halton-based HR consultant, to help small employers to better understand their obligations to staff when it might be necessary to reduce the size of their workforce. Topics covered will include changing Terms & Conditions of employment, and  consideration of redundancies and possible alternatives. Catherine will provide practical guidance with real-life examples of how employers can tackle the situation when staffing budgets are squeezed, whilst ensuring that everyone involved understands what is happening, and can move forward effectively for the future.

The workshop will conclude with a question and answer session and Jane Williams, Community Accountant, will provide an overview of what support we can offer to groups.
