ESF Works highlights the work of Volunteer Centre St Helens
With the increase in publicity around Volunteering nationally and an increase in people wanting to volunteer, Halton and St Helens VCA and the Volunteer Centre St Helens has been highlighted as a good practice model under the European Social Fund (ESF) Works website.
The Experience Volunteering, Experiencie Work Project run through the Volunteer Centre worked with individuals from the most deprived areas of St Helens to give them a stepping stone on the route to employment.
From April 2010 to March 2011 achieved the following outcomes:
- 405 individuals improved their skills and confidence
- 405 individuals progressed into some aspect of learning
- 165 individuals started to volunteer
